firebird fenders

What is the difference between fenders. my car is a 91 firebird w/ ground effects package. Is it possible to use a fender from an older firebird, with a little drilling of course for the ground effects. if it is what years will work.

thanks again

Only difference I'm aware of is TA fenders have the air extractor cutouts. Those fenders with gfx are indented slightly at the bottom and of course have those holes. My new from GM fenders for my TA only cost me $125 a piece.

I am in the same predicament. TA's stopped coming with the vents in the fenders in 88 or 89. I have 90 firebird with factory gfx, hence no fender vents...so finding used 90 TA fenders is very very hard and since i found new oem fenders in an ames catalog for 300 bucks i decided to look for the used route. needless to say i found a drivers side 89 firebird fender for about 35 bucks, so i bought it and compared it to the fender on my car (a 90 bird with TA gfx) and they look exactly the same, so i think i am just gonna drill my own holes and save several hundred dollars...

that GM fender you said you bought for a little over 100, thats a repro right? not and OEM part? if it is OEM where the heck did you buy it if is new? wish they were that cheap...

in the end i need only a passenger fender and i am all set, but its been taking a long time....hope this helps....i think it will def. work...i will let you all know when i get that far

I have a used OEM drivers side fender from a '91 GTA that I'll sell for $75 plus shipping. It has one small ding, but no repairs or bondo. E-mail me at d_k_henderson@yahoo.com if you're interested.

You can use the fender from any model firebird from 85 to 92 (even GTA) except the T/A (they have the cutouts as mentioned) , they are all the same (exc. holes drilled for gfx). T/A fenders w/extractor cutouts were made 85-90 just in case anyone cares :P

Some paint supply houses can order replacement (aftermarket)parts for half off the price of genuine GM. I don't know the company a place where I live orders from,, but they(the company,, not paint house) gaurentees the fit or will replace it. I learned that lesson after backing over my friends mom's saturn and buying a new hood from the dealer,, oops.

5 years ago dealer price was $160 for a plain fender at insurance pricing (walk in is higher),, maybe they've gone down since ?
