Possibly a bit extreme, but...
I'm thinking of doing this to my car...
I know it's a bit overboard, but I think it looks damn sexy.
Thoughts, Ideas, Opinions?
edit: That's not my car--I'm shamelessly using another members car...

ok, since you're putting it that way, obviously we have been insulting each other. Let's leave it at that, and move on... Hopefully we can be more civil towards each other in the future.

I dare you to try that. Every seam that you seal up with body filler will crack in a matter of minutes when you start driving the car. Can't forget the amount of flex our cars have

Bad idea for a daily driver, but I like the look. When I take my 91Z to the bodyshop for the next round of mods I'm gonna get the front end molded as well as the sideskirts and rear bumper. It'll crack the seams if you hit something or the unibody flexes hard enough but if its done right it should not be cracking because of vibration. I personally know guys that have had their GFX molded and it was OK for daily driving.

well every party needs a party pooper, thats why I am here. That image at the top is as fake as a $3 bill. Look at the GFX, they are blurred where the seams would be, total photoshop job.

Well it looks nice but i have one fall back that came to mind. You said you would replace the window motors then do it, thats fine and all, but if yo plan on keeping the car for any extended time, having to roll the windows up and down all the time those motors are going to go out sooner. Now that your door is sealed shut, your going to have a fun time replaceing that motor again. Just something i thought of, the car looks sweet with out seams though hehe.

So in an effort to smooth the body lines, you're going to take the car to the ridiculous extremes of eliminating the doors, but you're still going to keep the fake heat extractor fender vents?
Keep the doors, lose the vents.

yeah i guess thats true. Does it put more wear on the motor to be run at lower voltages? I know that my windows run slower when the car is off. i doubt it does but something else i thought of lol.

Well I was going to weld everything metal, and possibly make new, single piece GFXs... Would try to stay away from bondo or other fillers as much as possible..

Yes, thanks for the poop. Feel better now?
I don't remember trying to sell it as a real car... It's obviously photochopped. Took me all of 10 minutes to do.

Very good point there. Maybe I should look into removing them as well. However, living in good ole' CA, I don't know that they are entirely useless. If anything they can be made functional. It gets freaking hot in the wheel well, especially after mountain runs...
I know it's a bit extreme. But like I said, I think it looks #@$%@#^ good, and it would more likely than not be a weekend/cruiser car, if I take it to these great lengths.

I can't argue with the fact that it looks good. But the sex appeal would plummit as soon as you start crawling in through the hatch. Great for a show car. But not a very good idea if it's your daily driver. Also, if you were to get in an accident or something, and you needed to get out of the car quickly, you may be in trouble...

Yeah, as much as I would like it to be, I don't think it could be my daily driver. If I got into an accident though they wouldn't hesitate to just smashy smashy and grab...
Maybe I should start out with shaved handles and lock...?

I think getting in and out Hazzard County style would get pretty F'ing old. Would your girlfriend/wife like riding knowing she has to climb through the window? If this were a race car that would be cool but its not so whats the point? Smooth sides? You could keep the doors and take all that time and effort doing good upgrades. Just an opinion.

Whenever I park my car in the garage, I have to get in and out that way... I've been doing it every day for 5 years now...
I realize that my fiance would get tired of jumping in and out of it all the time, hence my reason for making it a weekend cruiser, semi-show car.
If I would go to these extremes, it would no longer be my daily driver.
I have 5+ years of fiberglass experience, and my father has 30-35 years of welding and bodywork experience. I think we could do it without ruining a car that is currently valued at a whopping $500...

Yes, the garage is too small for my car, but I'd rather have it in there and be slightly inconvenienced getting in and out of it than have punks try to mess it up, even if it might not be show quality right now...
On the way over to school it just occurred to me that it might not be legal to do that to a street legal car here in CA...
I might have spoken too soon and no longer have a reason to sell my idea to you guys...

Our power window motors have enough trouble......
Yes, some people use them just as often, but the difference is, when you use them every day and they go out, it's just an inconvenience.

I'd love it for a race car...I'm fairly thin & limber & I know I'd scratch my paint job all to hell in no time at all...
