Some pics of my TTA

Howdy, New to the board and just wanted to show you guys my TTA I picked up in February. I use all Ardex detail products on her. They are a local company here in Philadelphia. They have some nice products that most body shops and detail shops use. The wax I use from them goes on easy and comes off easy and looks good! I have a 87 Buick Grand National also. They sell a polishing sealer that really brings the black up nice with no swril marks. Thank *** the TTA is white. White is very forgiving out of all the colors out there!
Well here she is.. 1989 Turbo Trans Am 20th Anniversary. Indy Pace Car. 28K original miles on it. Tires and the battery are the only things not original! These were taken at the Art Muesuem in Philly.

If your really board click the link for more pics of my baby! More TTA pics

Wow, what a beautiful TTA!

Much like you, I also love white Birds, but I guess I might be a little biased...

That car is absolutely gorgeous. I've always though all of the gold accents look great on the TTA and I usually think they make other cars look cheap. Congratulations on a good find!

Thanks guys! I love my baby! It really is the best Pontiac Buick ever made! I had a few IROC's and TA's back in the 80's but this is nothing like them. Those cars had the typical rattles, squeaks, and hard ride but this thing is like a caddy. No noise, quiet as a mouse going down the road. I was suprised. Here are a few engine bay pics.. thanks again for the nice comments!

Question, where did you get that coolant resevoir sheild? Is that a TTA thing or aftermarket? I like it.

Thanks again guys for the compliments!

BigWhiteGTP; That coolant resevior sheild is from the space shuttle! Keeps my anti freeze chilly! J/K! That is something Pontiac put on them to protect the coolant resevior from the heat of the turbo and downpipe! I guess the first few melted! The AC lines also have that heat sheild on them that run down the frame on that side! It's all good.. everyone thinks it's an aftermarket part!

If you guys want a little tour of my TTA right click and save this link. Little video I made of the car and you can hear how it sounds! Some of the guys on the GTA board wanted to hear the difference between the turbo six and the V8. Even though the V8 rumbles nice.. the V6 will whisper on by! I like the sound of the turbo six. Has it's own sound. Keep in mind my entire exhaust is bone stock. The cat is still there and the muffler is factory still Enjoy! Take a video tour of my TTA

Sorry for being so long on this post guys but it's raining out side and I'm bored and I don't like to miss anyone in a thread! lol

FlyinLow89: None of that! I'm keeping her stock! I have the GN to play with as far as mods and making it fast. I'm going to try and keep her as long as I can. Hopefully when I'm 90 or so you'll see me at Barrat Jackson selling for some good money!

PhAnToMs: There is a few TTA's in Philly. They just hide well! I know a few guys in Bensalem with them and a few in S NJ as well. The art mueseum is awesome place for some pics! I love it up there!

DanTheMan_smlk: I like the look on someone's face when I pass and they are waiting for that rumble of the V8 the GTA's typically made. I compaired the sound to a Grand National and they are close. But the TTA does have it's own personal sound

purpleZ-28: As far as the horse power.. when Pontiac was going to build these cars for Indy the GTA would not pace and they would have to mod the hell out of it. So GM sent Pontiac over to Buick and had them buy up all the left over GN drive trains. GM then said.. we took a bath on the Grand National kicking the hell out of the Corvette.. so make sure the TTA is not faster! So the vette that year was rated at 255HP and they rated the TTA at 250HP. But guys took them home.. ran them on a dyno with the stock set up and found them hitting 301 HP with the stock air cleaner! I put a woopin on several Rustangs in the area already. When they catch up they wonder how a GTA beat them. When looking for the GTA badges they see the nice big word TURBO and turn their head and leave me alone! lol Here is a awesome site to check out for more info on the TTA. It will tell you it all! Great site to learn all about the cars.. More info on the Turbo Trans Am HERE!

Steve383: Thanks! When I'm taking pics of my cars I always try to leave a little room for the icons! lol Check out my page for more pics. You can blow them up bigger then the ones here! Click here.. then click on the pics.. and then click the drop down for size and max it out! I love detail!

Firebreed: thanks! Allot of polishing and cleaning! I keep a tooth brush in my pocket all the time and it's not used on my teeth! lol That's for sure! I spent many hours under the hood cleaning it up. It's nice when you don't have to use it for a daily driver and keep it out of the elements. Click some of the links in this post for more pics and more info on the TTA's. I must admit. After buying the car. I loved doing all the research and learning about them. There is some really cool history about these cars and not many people know about them! So read up so when you see one at a show or cruise you can look like the collector king around your friends!

Thanks again guys for the nice compliments! Some nice people hang on this board thank ***!

I was'nt in the market for a TTA but when this one came across my eyes I could not let it slip past. The amazing part is it's had 4 owners. Thankfully they were all very well off people and kept it in climate controlled storage and just drove it to keep it fresh.

I have a 87 GN that I was happy with but being the turbo loving and F body fan that I am and owning several IROC's and T/A's over the years I could not pass it up. I hunted down and talked to all the owners of the car and all of them said they would buy it back for whatever I paid for it. They all missed it and were glad to know it was in a collectors hands still. I called PHS and got the build number 396. I'm still on the hunt for the build sheet. Checked all the normal places but nothing. Found a tiny scrap of it behind the spare tire area. I was going to take it out today but it's raining here in Philly

As for the Canadian guys I use to live in Mississauga up untill about 4 years ago! (Right off Glen Erin Dr and Folkway Dr.) I miss it up there. The winters are more easy to deal with down here but Canada is awesome! Nothing like a Canadian winter! I keep saying I'm going to come up for a visit but life and work are always getting in my way! anywho.. Here is some pictures of my other turbo car.. 1987 Buick Grand National

Now I know that the gn is modded and all, but honestly, stock for stock, which is faster do you think? Have you owned the gn when it was still stock? Man that thing is sweet I love it, I want one of those so bad. Beautiful car man, not often people post pics of those on here.

Thanks EjBaL! If you put a stock TTA next to a stock GN the TTA will kick it's a$$. The TTA's were 301HP and ran a 13 in the quarter mile. and 0-60 in 5.5 secs. Not totally sure on the specs on the GN's but they were around high 14's from the factory. The TTA is lighter and more areodynmic (sp) as well. The TTA's also had better heads then the GN They had to use front wheel drive heads because the GN heads would not clear the shock towers. So these front wheel drive heads breathed better. Here are some more specs on the TTA..

3.8L SFI V6 Intercooled Turbo rated 250 bhp @ 4400 rpm, 340 lb-ft torque @ 2800 rpm
bore x stroke: 3.800 in. x 3.400 in.
valves: 1.710 in. intake, 1.490 in. exhaust
crankshaft: nodular iron with 4 cross-drilled
main bearings and 6 counterweights
rods: cast Armasteel, 151mm long
pistons: special design, 8.0:1 cr,
46.4mm compression height
maximum boost: 16.5 psi
curb weight: 3346 lbs.

Now my GN went thru some major upgrades so it should run around mid 11's so it better wipp the TTA! I'd never race the TTA but I've played with some new and old Rustangs on the Blvd. and put an *** wippin on them ever time

The really cool part about a TTA is you buy a stock one.. dump about 4K into it (downpipe, turbo, injectors, fuel pump, alky, and some other small ods and ends) and your in the 10's all day long! It was the best Pontiac Buick ever built!

Well specs say maximum boost: 16.5 psi. The boost gauges were never accurate. It's usually all over the place. Hard to keep an eye on it and the road at the same time!
