New camaro grid light idea
As some of you know, the early style single line camaro tailights came with a much whiter reverse light section than the newer grid lights did. Was thinking maybe there is some kind of translucent white paint out there to brighten up the grid reverse lights and help tie them in with the clear front markers. I have an extra grid light on what's left of my rs so i can experiment with it. Anyone know of a good paint for this?
Here is Camaroguy18's car with the earlier style lights, you can see how they are much brighter in the reverse section than on the grids

I think that it would really take a lot for me change my grid-style tails.
I sometimes get frustraited with the amber sections.. but then I look to Kandied's car for inspiration and forget all about it.

actually I'm in the process of trying to make them bright like the non grid style and the only difference i see between them is the grid style has miniature reflectors in them. I'm trying to sand them smooth and polish them so they'll be really transparent. Damn another custom piece let out of the bag.... I gotta learn to keep my mouth shut.

Anyway you could take the lens cover off the reverse light...and not F**k it up, if you could you can find some way to grind the rought part on the inside of it off and then polish it.

i have brand new NOS ones and they are bright, the chrome deteriorates on the old ones and makes them look dull inside.

Well I remember Camaroguy saying that he didn't even do anything to the reverse lights.
He simply painted that section black, and the contrast from the black paint makes the reverse lights look much lighter than if the orange was next to it.

I believe the old style have a "frosted" lense, while the newer one is transparent. The newer one will let more light through, but the frosted one may look whiter in some cases because it's less influenced by what's reflecting off the reflector behind the lense.

Well I went ahead and did it, used flat white on the inside of the lense and here are the results...
Still not sure if I like it or not as I will see what it looks like on the car when it comes back from the shop.
Ignore the defects on the light...

if anything the flat white made it look even older and more oxidized, like when headlights turn yellow. personally i like the darker look rather then a bright white, i will probably end up darkening mine with the spray on tint if anything.

doesnt look that bad actually, but I wodner if the white paint will hinder light output.
I went to trans am tails to get away from and amber sections in my stock tail lights.
Course, thats for pontiacs, not you chevy guys.
