Painting my car flat black and wheels?

Once I get my car running right I want to paint it. I'm not gonna invest an expensive paint job on my car. Plus, I love the look of flat black. What would be the best way to do this? Do it with a spray can or take it somewhere to get it painted? I've seen some cars that was done with a spray can, but you can see all the lines in it. So how much would it cost for someone to do it? Also, do they just leave it like that or put a flat black clear coat on it? I heard somewhere about they're being a clear coat for flat black. Also, do they make those in spray cans too? I don't want to ruin the body of my car since it's in pretty good shape now with no rust

And for the wheels, I was thinking about getting the middle pieces painted the same color(inside the row of nuts(NOT the lugnuts) if you look at the pic). The middle pieces are plastic so would painting it be the same way?

I since cleaned the wheels and tires since that pic lol..

Btw, would finish priming it to match the bumpers be a good thing to do since you can see the old paint coming through the old primer?.

You should use an epoxy base primer, helps keep the rust down.

As far as washing goes, I heard someone say on here that you can't wash your car if it's flat black

you can wash it but you cant wax or buff it, but it all depends on what type of primer you are using

From what I have seen there is a flat clear coat that is put over the flat black paint job if its done right. I'm sure a prof painter knows what I am talking about. I am almost positive that a flat black paint is used not primer. Please don't rattle can never looks good. I would have maco paint my car before i rattle canned it. imo

i did a little bit of research into painting my car flat black and theres a couiple different ways you can do it. there was an article in carcraft or hotrod where they threw a first gen together in a budget build and they finished it by priming it with regular primer, and then they put some black toner in the primer and it made it a dark flat gray (almost flat black) and it turned out really good. otherwise you can paint it normally and the paint that is most often used is john deere blitz black, mostly because of its durability. rattle canning can be done and look pretty decent, but you have to be patient as hell, and lay it on in many thick coats. that way you wont get the lines you were talking about, i wouldnt reccomend doing this though, as having a pro do your paint it turns out much better and the paint will last alot longer.

PPG has a Matte clearcoat. HOK has a flattening agent to add to their clearcoat.

Do it right the first time, if you want your car flat black thats fine, but is no excuse for cheaping out and halfassing a paintjob so it wont last, and will just be another layer to remove when its time to do it right.

Well if the price of a flat paint job is the same as a regular paint job, then I'll just get it painted black with a clear. I was going for the flat black since I thought I'd be cheaper.

if you use the primer/toner idea it will be cheaper. especially if you go to the right place. look around the local shops and ask all the local guys what they think.

I'm not sure what spoiler that is, it was there when I bought it. I was going to get a 5" spoiler to replace it before I got it painted. Don't apologize for anything, it's a POS and nothing lines up right. The hood, the driver side skirt isn't lined up, the pass fender isn't line up with the door, I was going to fix it all before I got it painted.

Also, what do you mean the matching side skirt up front? Mine doesn't match? I guess I never really paid any attention to the bodys of other Camaros lol.

I think there are three different spoilers 4 if you count the lip mounted with and without 3rd lights. They are different sizes.
If you want cheap DP90 is about $165 for a gallon and katalyst.

well I'm another that'll say don't spray bomb it.. rattle cans always look like crap unless you spend alot of time and you've got lots of rattling experience. Plus you'll need many several coats from a spray bomb to get it to look decent. If you want to go the cheap route, roll it. I know it sounds terrible, but I've seen many cars that were rolled and yes they look like *** close up, however they're 100x better from twenty feet away when compared to a rattlecan job.

good luck.
