Just bought this yellow 87 Iroc yesterday. I have had the flat black one about 12 years. It is nearing completion and I found this one for a new project. It's all original never wrecked or repainted. The sun has taken its toll on the original paint a dashpad but other than that it's very nice. 5.0 with an auto. This is the fist 305 one I have ever driven and was kinda suprised.

 

ohhhh i like yellow irocs!!!! one of the coolest colors to come on them in my opinion...you should repaint it with a hint of metallic, maybe give it a more deep, orangish yellow

 

If im not mistaken but isint that color called "jamacian yellow" and isint it pretty rare ?

91Z8 I don't know what the color is called paint code 51u. This is the only yellow one I have ever seen in person.

The lady said the bra came installed at the dealer when it was in the showroom. She did not like so after a few miles took it off, kept it in a closet and gave it to me. I put it on last night just for grins but it won't stay long.

awesome i love yellow irocs...was one of the more rare colors. Id love to see some more pics of it. I like anything unique about the third gens...

If you repaint it id definently paint it the stock yellow color.

 

I'm gonna keep it all stock no mods no performance parts, and the original yellow. The black one is modded so I don't need 2 that are.

 

Yeah definatley restore that back to showroom condition... If I could pick up another thirdgen that would be what I would want... Now more pics of both

 

I like the yellow one but my black one is still top dog.
Need to pick up my hood, install the fuel lid, get new screw for the centercap, install emblems and Iroc stickers and wash her off.
It's PPG DP90 flat black. I'm either going to get a 3" cowl or a stock flat fiberglass hood then add silver heritage stripes. All my emblems and stickers are silver as well.

 

so, what's the black one got under the hood...errr...what will be the hood...

 

Have not decided what hood see right above pic. I am buying a harwood I just have to go to the factory and get it. Harwood hoods are made here in TX. The engine is a 350 with ported l-98 heads, lingenfelter cam and 58mm Throttle body, ported and gasket matched TPI, and roller rockers.

good stuff! my dad's got an 84k mile '86 very similar to yours.. gotta love the color, it's kinda quirky but it really grows on you. My friends and I have affectionatly dubbed it the "yelloz" from the personalized plate it had when we got it.. best of luck with yours!

 

the flat black car is going to look sharp with all the silver decals in place..

and yes that is the same bra that I have.. I only hate the fact that you pretty much need to take the whole thing off to open the hood..

I need to quit being lazy and go get a hood. I would like to drive it to town, but right now I am restricted to the farm to market roads. I'm ready to see it 100% complete. I am gonna take the yellow to the shop tomorrow for new struts and a front end rebuild. Something in the front is loose and the brakes are spongey. I did a little buffing and the yellow shows a little life left in it.
