how long should i wait before using the defrost?

Should be able to use it right away, but I'd wait a week to be safe. Mine took two weeks to completely dry.

will there be any danger of melting the tint or the defrost damaging it in any way?

At the detail shop that I worked for, we told people not to use the rear defrost for atleast one month. You won't melt the tint, but you will short out the defroster. The glue needs to be totally dry.

Yeah, mine don't work either. Of course, my third brake light didn't either until I fixed that. Maybe its just wiring problems like I had with that faulty wiring in the brake light assembly?

I think I should have removed the rear defroster on mine before I tinted it (if thats possible). It would have looked way better.
