EVERYONE'S winter project!

Well here it goes. The complaining stops here.
This winter every person on the board is obligated to do two things.
Clean out your ashtray, mason jar, and change bucket and buy that rusty piece of crap everyone sees rolling around their town. Next grab your tools and chop it up. Don't feel sorry for it at all, if we didn't do it the scrap yard would, and make a profit. This is the only way to eliminate the bad rap our cars have been dealt. If people only see quality thirds our cars will be seen for what they are really worth.
This winter we and I say we are going to clean up the image of the thirdgen.

I want a total commitment here brothers!

I can understand what you're trying to say, but theres actually quite a few nicely done thirdgens around here. Never really see any beat to hell ones..Might have to do with the fact that we don't experience winter though.

Every town has at least one eating at the bottom of the food chain. You have seen it and thought to yourself... I will chop that car 4 1/2 minutes after I buy it.

next time someone offers to give one to me or sell it for a buck - I'll take 'em up on it. It'll be fun - I can raise money for more mods by selling timeslips to beat the junker with a sledge hammer

the hood is put out by Champion Fiberglass and is about a 3" cowl...it best mimics the cervini's hood but is a bit cheaper.

the wheels have been sold, but a set of Rodlites will be replacing them soon...for now the factory 15x7 z28's will do.

C'mon dude, I don't live that far from you and I see more than a few crappy looking thirdgens almost daily. Yes, I see plenty of really sweet rides too, but there are a lot of POS thirdgens running around SoCal. I should know, ours used to be one of them!!

But now she's all fixed up and looking real pretty.....so does that mean I've already done my part?????

dittio, but i think i have found one. not sure.

Sometimes those rusted old clunkers of f-bodys can be saved, which is what should happen. So if it can be saved, save it.

Did you find the DeLorean with the Mr. Fusion on the back ? Otherwise, good luck changing the stigma of a 3rdgen.

That's on par with trying to restore pintos to remove the joke about a rear end collision and explosions...

Of course.. that's just my opinoin... I could easily be wrong.

hopefully the "pieces of crap" cars will disappear. Look at the 2nd gens for example, I dont see too many junky 2nd gens. They either got recycled or restored.

I think thirdgens are the best f-bodies. I think in time, more and more people will see their advantages and potentials, thus, hopefully minimizing the pieces of crap.

I'm hoping to restore and install a set of GTA door panels into my IROC, as well as get my component speaker/kick panel combo sounding way better than it does currently. I'd really like to get my car in good enough shape to bring it to the GM Nationals at Carlisle next year.

But, since my garage isn't heated, most of this probably won't happen.

As soon as i get my new trans built to handle my motor and more ill prob get a holley stealth ram. also, once it moves i can finally start the body work and paint. that will be fun, but ill probably keep it the same color after getting yelled out for wanting to change a fairly rare color/color combo. i might grab this cowl hood too

As for the junk third gens, maybe people are planning to build them up, and want to so badly that they cant use any of the money to buy another car.

some day, when i have a house built... it will have a heated garage. a heated 3 car (at least) garage. one for my car, one for the wifes car (if i can actualy con somone into getting wed) and one for the project..... some day.

for now i have a carport in an apartment complex. which means unless it's short, and generaly interior related, i am waiting till summer. right now my radio pod is out and being JBwealded back together. (they all break in the same place, bolthole on the top right) i am also doing a general car audio re-wire. baisicaly fixing the mistakes of prior owner(s) and shody "better then free instalation" car audi places. slowly.. she gets closer and closer to perfect.

My winter project is getting mine into shape. A year up here in Pa has kinda wore mine down, espeically with the lack of funds and time of a college student...All bodywork is gettin redone, including some nice custom stuff, new heads on motor, and everything fixed...Then Im back to modding again!
