real quick car question i need answered fast

my dad seems to think that a 305 ci. is too much for a 16 yuear old insurrance wise, so the ***** has decided that the most i can get is a little peice of **** V6. as long as ive loved camaros (since i can remember) there is no way im gonna settle for a 2.8 liter unless theres something im not seeing about it.

will someone tell me a good car that looks nice, is as cheap as a 92 RS V6, and has more power and some sort of enjoyment to it

thanks! God i hate to leave my passion behind this blows...theres always later i guess :'( :'(

If his only concern is insurance, get the V6 car and drop a V8 into it. Best of both worlds, as the insurance company is only concerned with the VIN#.

Yes but what do you have in it? While i do have access to basically anything i can find in the pos wholesale cars my dad gets, i also have a whopping 60 bucks in my pocket and am looking for a job.

if i DO get this V6 itll be completly stock and no mods except small apperance mods.

and since my dad is a used car dealer, i drive 2000 Camaro SS's and new z06/c5 corvettes bascially everyday. i couldnt even imagine not having atleast a 3.0 l in my driveway. 2.8 is just too slow compared to a 6 speed 2001 trans am

Get a 90-92 it's a 3.1, but really whats the big deal? It's not the end of the world, I didn't even get a car til I was 18!! I would have been happy with anything. I have 2 305's now, and I still want to get a v6 thirdgen, they are cute little things.

just get what you can and work with it.and be grateful your getting a camaro or simular car.Yeh I got a 305 in my first car,but it was sitting in a 78 caprice classic 4 door battle ship that my mom gave me,trust me a v-6 camaro wouldve much cooler at that age.

82 - 89 = 2.8
90 - 92 = 3.1
93 - 95 = 3.4
95,96-01= 3.8

2.8,3.1,3.4 are all really the same engine with different bores and cranks.

Color choice? I like black.. hard to keep clean, but I don't care, I always wanted a black 90-92 Camaro since I had a Camaro hot wheels car. Heres a pic:

There a couple more on my site. Good luck.

Stand up to your dad and tell him you don't want a V6 Camaro. Explain to him that you are a responsible person and that you are giong to look for a job to pay for the extra cost of insurance.

Don't do the pretty stuff yet! Spend your "appearence" money on some "performance" parts, make it go fast before it looks good! Thats what i did anyway.

My first car was a 87 Firebird with the 2.8 Multi port back in 94. I beat the #$%@ing s$%#t out of that thing learning how to drive! It was fun to race unless a real sports car was at the plate. I loved that car to death since I paid for it myself but I sure drove it hard and learned how to really drive. After brushing up against a tree with it I sold it and bought the real thing - 89 Formula 350. That is a serious car and are way better to mod than a 305. Learn to drive first and then get the fast car!

that 1989 V6 GTA you're talkin about is not a GTA, its A Turbo Trans AM, and it can smoke most V8's. read the V6 board, and don't diss the hard-to-kill 60 degree V6.

If you are talking about the turbo trans am guy talking about be fast well they are very fast. They have a 3.8 v6 turbo.

I wouldn't say the 2.8 can't beat anything, it'd probably beat my cavalier's 2.2.

No SHlT sherlock, I was being sarcastic. And just so YOU don't get further confused, that Buick engine has jack SHlT in common with YOUR V-6.
I hope you don't mean hard to kill as in fast.....

My first car was a 1980 toyota corolla so everyone quit whinnin'

My second was a '88 camaro RS 2.8 (Still own and drive {and love} and it looks better than new {although 160,000 miles on her})

My third is an '88 Firebird Formula 350 which I did up with a Scat Stroker, Ummm. Everything and own and drive about 1/3 of the time.

I've been driving since I was 16 and got rid of the toyota (and got the cam) 2 yrs later and am 27 now so I rate pretty good on taking care of my sh?t (Except the toyota which I hooked my buddys 150 nitrous kit to and blew the friggin thing up on the 2nd run..... yes I actually got I run out of it and then the auto trans wouldn't shift outta first but I gave her another go anyway)

Outta luck, Not to sound like an A$$ hole, but the V6 camaros are very underestimated. I have beate V8's with my stock 3.1 My mom has a new supercharged Bonneville that does low 14's in the 1/4 mile. V6's are more than people make them out to be.

Hey, If I were you I would find a real clean 86-88 Fiero GT or SE with the 5speed manual and the 2.8 MPFI V-6 in it. Fairly cheap on insurance (cheaper than a V8 car) and fairly quick too. My 86 SE with the 4speed ran a 15.26 @ 88 MPH.

------------------
L98, 3.27 9-bolt, Hooker shorty headers, custom 2.5inch Y-pipe, no cat, 3inch 2chamber flowmaster, JET AFPR, Ported MAF, Best ET: 13.86 @100mph. 1.99 60'
17 inch ROH "ZS" wheels. 17x8.5(front) and 17x9.5 (rear). Firestone Firehawk SZ50s. 245/45/zr17s and 275/40/zr17s. T56

On the way... Radar Blue 89 Formula, T56, Ram Jet 430, Ram Air, 17inch ROHs.

Thank you for bringing that to my attention... The gas price thing was a great example.. the V8's are decent on the freeway, but in town, they suck gas like crazy, and being a teenager, the gas pedal is on the floor quite a bit. The cheapest gas here in cali, is 1.63 which is good compared to 1.98 this past summer. I was driving a car with a 4 cyl 32MPG and it was still killing me. You can always pump up the V6 a little..And one advantage you have is less weight, so you can make it stick better then the V8 cars.
