I got to fully 110% agree with xpndbl3.. Don't buy just cause you think they look "cool" or "racey"

Like xpndbl3 said turning right is a pain. I'm 5'10", aftermarket sport seats that sits about 2" higher up than stock and right hand turns are hard to see. If theres a ditch or curb on the right then I have to make a wide turn going into the other lane just so I can see the damn curve or ditch.

Plus this is just my opinion here but to me its just plane goofy and getting close to the import guys style to see a muscel car with a 4" or 6" cowl or 4-8" pro stock scoop on thier cars.. Look under the hood and see a TBI, or stock TBI that will fit under a flat stock hood. Or even a 4bbl carb on a low raise intake with a 2" tall air filter.

You can fit up to a 3" tall air filter on a carb under a stock hood with the right drop base air cleaner.

make sure you compliment the back with either a Hawks 5" spoiler (I recommend this, so would Irocbirdbuilder) or a Hi-rise

He's right^, the 5" spoiler such as on irocbirdbuilders really make it look uniform and not so out of place.

Yeah I really really like the look of irocbirdbuilder's car.

And yes I'm going to need about 2"-3" of clearance with my setup, the extra few inches are just incase i ever want a supercharger or something. plus i like the look.

I hope irocbirdbuilder won't mind me putting up a pic of his car real quick, it's an awesome illustration of a cowl offset with the 5" spoiler.

darkmage... Thank's man.

It's just a harwood 4" bolt on cowl hood. I bought mine used but summit has them new for $470 plus shipping.

I found a 86 sc "parts car" that had that hood on it, an edelbrock rpm intake and 600 cfm carb along with some other parts I needed for $500 so I grabbed it right up at that price.

They come with two smaller screen "vents" in the rear of the cowl but I didn't feel they would let enough air through for my engine being I plan on sealing my air cleaner to the scoop, so I just cut the whole back open.

this is my car with a harwood 4 inch. i dont know about everyone else but my hood fits like ****. its not so bad by the fenders but is horrible were it meets the bumper as you can see in the first pic. one of these days when i get the time ill have to try and get it to fit alittle better.

I have some old pics of when I placed a scoop on the hood. Mine is a 5" but when I get the garage done and bring the car up here I will purchase a 5" hood instead. I don't think its too tall. I am 6'2" and can see over it just fine.

heavy_chevy29.. You got 2 things mis adjusted on yours bud. Pretty quick fix too.

At the front, on the core support theres 2 round rubber things. Screw them down.

Then on the front latch, (part on car not hood) loosen the bolts and move the latch down. Try to keep it from moving side to side. Just break the bolts loosen and tap it down with a hammer.

That should fix your probs.

Night rider327 thanks

i used to work in the autobody industry as a painter/bodyman for 5 years. i have the rubber bumpers all the way down and the latch is all the way down. i have to take the latch off and elongate the holes on the part thats bolted to the car, then it should be alittle better.

Oh ok.. Well I tried lol. Wonder why yours is still sitting too high in the front with the latch down all the way.
