Tire shine?

What's the best way to get your tires to that like new plastic shine? Products, cleaning techniques? What do y'all use?

MEGUIARS (sp?) i live by this stuff and it smells like grape also!! but seriously it lasts over a week almost two. and you put it on by a sponge. it is a gel and it doesnt take any mosture out of the tire like armorall. its great and you can get it at any car parts store, AUTOZONE, ADVANCE, etc. and it is around 4-6 bucks. for a big container. well worth it. we used it on show cars here in town and they were impressed.

Hi.
I have had good luck spraying on Armour All's Extreme tire shine after washing them. You just spray it on and they look wet for up to a week.

Cheers

Black Magic Tire Wet. You'll never use another after this stuff, cheap, effective, lasts.

I used to use that Black Magic stuff. I loved how it looked & the smell but that damn stuff sucks cause it keeps flinging onto the damn body panels no matter how you applied the crap. THen I switched to the Turtle Wax tire wax/gel. Great stuff!!! But then I got tired of the shine look on the tires so now I just scrub my tires w/ simple green & go after the clean tire look.

I have to agree w/ Mike Harvey (for once..hehe). The shiny tire look get a bit old after a bit. The ashy clean tire look sucks too (which is what you get when you don't reapply some of that stuff). And dirty tires obviously suck.

I add my vote for the Meguire's tire dressing. Put it on, then give it a second quick light wipe with a dry cloth, and it gets a just-right black satin, slightly damp, clean new tire look. And it's not really oily, and doesn't sling off that way.

Plus it smells like grape!!

The best why not to get it to shiny is to let the armour all type sit for about 10-15 min then, then wipe if off as good as you can. This way the tires look clean but not to shiny, and it doesn't fling all over your car. I sell car wash stuff so I know how this stuff works. Good luck

Definately that grape Meguires stuff. I've used EVERYTHING and that's the best. I used to use the Tire Magic and was very happy with it except that it would sling crap all over the side of my car, and would turn brown in no time. That Meguires needs to be put on with a sponge and is pretty thick. It's just about as shiny as the Tire Magic, but it doesn't turn brown or sling crap all over the side of the car. If you're more into the satin or naked look, you can apply this then wipe it off with a cloth. That gives it a "little cleaner than usual" look.

I usually put the Armor All extreme shine stuff on, let it sit for 15 mins, wipe overspray off the rims (and it shines the rims too then), then put the car in the garage for the night and let it sit...stuff looks DAMN good in the morning then. Lasts for a while, until it rains at least...

I don't understand why you guys want that stuff on your tires at all. Rubber is supposed to be flat black..but clean. I use Simple Green to clean all the brake dust and dirt off. The tires are clean, black, don't attract dirt, don't fling crap all over the sides of the car and if you have white lettering, they stay white instead of muddy or yellowing. I don't believe the tires are supposed to give you a reflection like a fresh wax job!!

It's personal preference. When you've got a shiny paint job, shiny wheels and dull tires, it sticks out like a sore thumb. I use protectant on all of my exterior black to give it a deeper, blacker look, which is usually accomplished by giving it a glossy finish.

Scott gets my vote, I agree with him. Trailer queens look okay with shiny tires but they don't look right on cars that are driven.

Wow, I'm soooo stupid! Shiney tires! OH MAN! That would have made my car stick out!
I was going to do something to my car that I thought was attractive, not you!!! Thanks for correcting me! You'd better write some letters to all those company's who make that shiney tire stuff before they corrupt the world!

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder". I don't care if someone throws a couple of 5" rims on their car with 95/130HR5 rubbers and paints them neon green. If they like it, THAT'S how it should look.
