This isn't my car but I go to car shows and set up a tent and sell artwork made of photos I take of customer's cars.
I make "show board" displays that can be placed with the car at car shows. Or some people buy posters sized prints and frame them for the same thing.
I create prints in just about any size.

Here is a picture showing a poster that a guy bought from me. He framed it to set out with his car at car shows.

i never really understood putting a picture of your car in front of your car at a car show. why do they see a picture when you can just look at the real thing. im not trying to bash anyone for doing this, but i just dont get it. that and putting all your trophies in front of your car. the only thing i bring to a show is the car and myself. if they have questions they can ask.

I'm not into fancy crap, so when I take my car to the GM nationals, I'll leave the crying baby dolls and fake gas pump statues at home. I'll probably build a scrap book of all my "before" and "during" pictures, and maybe even burn a DVD that displays them on the monitor, but beyond that, it'll just be me and the car.

Good point, to me it doesn't really make a whole lot of sense to see a picture of the car and then the real thing right next to it.
I guess the main reason people put up show panel displays of their car (at least the reasons explained to me when they order from me), is to let the board to the talking (i.e. all the details of the car). Several people tell me they get tired of answering the same question over and over and over. So they put up the stats for people to read. Why not make it look good while your at it?
As far as just the poster picture, most people buy my art to decorate their walls, then they just take it down and display it with their cars to show off how much the "spend and enjoy" their rides.
I've seen some pretty creative ways to accent rides at shows. Some people go as far as "roping" off their car so noone will touch it and some people just show up leave the car all closed up and you never see them again.

Here's what I use:
http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/warbir...&.dnm=27b2.jpg
And, closeups:
http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/warbir...&.dnm=a619.jpg
http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/warbir...&.dnm=d39e.jpg
The small cards are autographed by Linda Vaughn, and my car dash map pocket is autographed by Emmerson Fittipalli, the winner of the 1989 Indy 500. There is also a picture of him signing my dsh map pocket, with me in the shot.
This is just something I put together.
I also used a 24x36 picture frame, with plexi, instead of glass, since some shows have windy days, which can/will blow over the sign, breaking the glass. Much lighter too, using plexi.

I think show displays are pretty cool and allow for some uninformed viewers of your car to get to know more about it without having to ask you. That being said, I need to start thinking about a display for my car.

i want to do something for the rod and custom show next year, but i'm not going to kill myself over it, i'm not big on fancy displays with glitter and ribbon and all that crap, i figure the car is being put on display not how much shiny stuff you put around it, id like to fab up a tubular oval kind athing like the foose baldwin camaro is displayed on but its too much to haul around, maybe just a mirror under each wheel for me

I usually put out, in the hatch w/ the cover back, the owners box, press kit, TTA oil filter box, and my TTA plug wires. On the passanger side window, I stick my window sticker. And on the front, I put up my pit pass and letter from PHS showing my car is TTA #437. Under the hood, I put together a binder with TTA stats, information and my dealer invoice.

Hi Coolguywalt!
You must have gotten your car not too long ago!
I now have 4, 2 inch wide binders on my car!
I use to bring all 4 to shows. No more.
Yes, I use to put out all that stuff as well, but then you now run into the problem of people wanting or thinking about taking stuff out of the car! I had a guy try to take my 20th TTA jacket right off my front driver's seat, at a car show. Tried telling me he was just going to look at it! Ya, right!
Now, I just put out that display by the car. Now, I can go look at other cars.
Have fun this car show season,
George

Acually, I've had mine since Nov of '04. I keep the hatch closed so you can only see the items. The binder under the hood is really the only thing that could be taken, but I always go to a show with my buds who watch out for people like that. It's kinda sad that people have to be that way........I guess it just goes to show you that you just can't own nice things!!!
