Plans for my car...

Well, after browsing more and more pictures of beautiful IROCs I'm realizing mine just won't do it for much longer. The paint on my car now is great for its age (almost 160K), but the roof is getting thin and just beginning to chip off and there's some spider cracks on the front and rear bumpers. I love the look of my car now with the factory decals etc, but debating on changing it up. The car is definitely going to stay white, but my dilemma is whether to put the decals back on to its original appearance along with stock rims IROC rims or go with no decals and 17" chrome IROCs or ZR1s. I love the stock sleeper look of my car as it sits now, but I also have seen a lowered, black, IROC with no decals that was lowered with 17" chrome IROCs and I absolutely loved it. I think it would look good in white as well especially with dark tint. I have never seen a white, lowered IROC with 17" chrome IROCs and no decals so it would be pretty original. Any pictures/suggestions would be great.

there is a white lowered camaro with 17" rims he just posted pics not too long ago on this forum. but i would say definitely put the stripes and decals back on it does not look good to me with out them. and i have intrax 2" lower springs with 17" chrome irocs and i love them. i would suggest a slightly bigger tire for the back but i got 245/45/17's all around so i could rotate them. look in sig. and ill find the link to the white camaro with 17" wheels.

to me it looks so much better with all the iroc decals and stripes.

Exactly what I was lookin for...thanks. Yea, I kind of agree it might not be exactly what I'm looking for with the plain white. But that car also has an RS hood with no louvers and white headlight buckets (even with the photoshop) so it's hard to tell. Gonna have to think this one through. Good thing I have a year to make my mind.

I did a little Photoshop of the plain white car with 18s...I like it with the changes I made, but I think I will stick with 17s, 18s may be a little much for my taste. Still debating though. What do ya think?

so there's no way to save the original paint? that's the route I'd try and go first since it may be more cost efficient, plus to me there's an added appeal when a car is still wearing its original paint. However if a repaint is a must, then throw the decals back on.. the car will look more like an rs without them..

I agree with original paint being appealing, but at 160K it's tough. I'd say my car definitely needs it. It's what you could call a 5 feet car. Looks awesome from 5 feet and further, but once you get closer you start to notice age, small chips, etc. The roof is really worrying me as it continues to slowly chip away revealing specs of bare metal. Hopefully I can make it last through this summer.

lol, that's not bad by any means... my car is more like a 25 foot car with a repaint that's maybe 4 years old..

just keep an eye on those sections if in fact they are bare metal (could be just the primer showing?) and it will definitly last you the summer...

I have to agree with 90firebird on this matter. If driven daily the car is going to become a five foot car in a few years no matter what you do. If a repaint is unavoidable then add the decals to avoid the RS look.

When I repaint my project, I plan on putting the lower stripes but leaving the door decals off. I kind of like the look without the big Iroc decals on. The lower stripes however are a must for me on a stock repaint.

One thing that IMHO always needs tp stay off when doing a repaint is the gfx stripes. Some colours and shades look good with the door fade, but not many.

my car is the same way. it takes really good pictures and looks awesome from about 10 feet away but there is alot of problems with the paint, and my car is a daily driver as well which is the main reason why i havent repainted it. but i will after high school is threw b/c then it will no longer be a DD.

and on the iroc stripes to me it looks alot better with them. that photochop you did with just the iroc decal and louvers and buckets black looked good, but i think it would look better with all the stripes.

I bought my car during the second half of my senior year. I started workin 25 hours a week (along with going to school and getting good grades) when I was 15 with one goal...save enough money to buy an IROC for my senior year. I had enough by the end of sophmore year but my mom wouldn't let me buy one for a first car so I bought an S10 when I got my license and drove it till senior year, when I finally bought my car. I have probably put $1500 into it in 2 years (I'm a freshmen in college). I just traded my S10 for a Mustang which I am selling to fund my new motor. That will be it for my car until next summer for sure. Luckily I was smart about what I bought for it and didn't waste money on horsepower parts for the 305 but rather parts to support a motor swap down the road (exhaust, suspension, rear end, fuel system, etc).

lol i know this will probably make a bunch of people mad but.... i have great parents lol... they bought me the car and this past christmas gave me the wheels. i have paid for everything else which is alot but not really considering i didnt pay for the car.

they were going to give me a 67 rs camaro but it turned out to need alot more work than we thought and when searching for a decent car to have for a couple years until we finished the old camao i fell in love with the thirdgens. so i will be keeping mine and my dad will keep the 67. the only thing about this car is they dont like me putting much money into it b/c it is not worth much, but i will probably never sell the car, i mean to me it is just a huge hobby and a longterm investment.
