Car Cover Do's & Don'ts

I have a general question about my car cover... I figured out a lot on Z28.com, but their slow to reply to a few things.

How am I to wash the car cover? Do I just sit it out and try to spray it down, then let it air dry? Or is there another method to cleaning the cover without tearing or stretching. Lemme know.

I've taken mine to the laundrmat and just threw it in one of the oversized washers. Then let it air dry.

dont machine wash it, only some covers are machine washable and they will probably advertise it if they are. put it on the car and wash it. a car cover will do you no good in long periods of heavy rain, eventually it will become saturated. make sure its tight so the wind doesnt flap it up and down on your paint. be careful in the winter, covers can freeze to the car. they say not to put a cover on cars with fresh paint but i dont have any knowledge about that...

My car does have fresh paint. The cover's recommend not putting the cover on when water is already on the car(to prevent freezing issues), but if it's warm out... like Summer in Missouri, then it's alright, the cover is breathable so the water can evaporate. I don't have any problems with the cover flapping in the wind, the cover has yet to begin stretching on me and fits very snug. I guess someday when the car is dirty, ill slap on the cover and spray it down... then take it off and clean the car. Is there any kind of 'cleaning materal' I should use on the cover, or would water be good enough?

I wouldn't put a cover on a dirty car. The next time you put it on the clean car, the dirt inside will scratch it up.

I had my cover dry cleaned. I have no stretching or anything. It still fits like the day I bought it. As far as putting in on a dirty car, don't do it like they say the dirt will work its way into the cover then scratch later on. Also avoid taking the cover on and off alot that can cause scratches too.

I'm saying, I'd put the car cover on my dirty car to spray all the dirt off it, THEN remove the cover. What's the point of puttin the cover on a clean car only to spray all the crap off onto the car?
