very nice! It makes me want to go further with my own engine bay. What are the hotpart strut mounts? I never heard of them. I'm installing Spohn's upper strut mounts right now

What did you do with the coolant tank?

I'm thinking of just deleting my windshield washer fluid tank... but I wouldn't know what to do with the coolant...

i made an over flow tank using 2.5" exhaust tubing, just capped the ends and welded in a fitting, it's 12" long. the on top i used one of those r*cer filtered breather things that you can get at the parts store for $10. i then placed it in front of the radiator and put the plastic piece over it(the one by the latch). no more ugly overflow tank! and since i had all the materials at the house, i only spent $10 on it, which was for the breather top. much cheaper than buying one through jegs!!!!

CamarosRUS, that thing is lookin' excellent! whats the rest of the drivetrain lookin' like? suspension?

thanks for the kind words all...this has been a ton of work (i have NO experience with anything this major) but ive learned more than 16+ years in school have taught me.
the drivetrain is still the crap t-5 and 10 bolt but as we speak in putting on Tokico Illuminas on all 4 corners, intrax 2" springs, and the hot part camber/caster plates. ~ HotPart.com ~

the overflow tank is mounted behind the bumper in front of the rad.

Have you tried to clean it? It should clean up like the rest of the car, but if it doesnt just spray some simple green and hose it off and then spray some more and use a soft brush for wheels to get the tuff stuff off... Works good for me.

the subtle details like painting the heater box and cleaning up the firewall makes that engine bay look amazing! I'm jealous

it took forever to re wire everything. there was just a handful of wires i really didnt have to lengthen or shorten...PITA! you cant see the distro block or my msd box unless you are lookin from the side.

its cleaner without the plug wires but to be honest i kind of wanted to show them off and give it a little more red.

Very good parts.... My 91 Camaro was actually used to prototype the camber/ caster plates.... My 93 Z28 is going in next week so they can use it to build aftermarket torque arms...

Your car is sweet, and the engine bay is over the top. Hiding the wiring and the a/c box cleans the firewall up so much that when it comes time for my engine may have to hit you up for some hints on the wiring.

Thanks for the inspiration

man, the motor in my car has been in and out 7 or 8 times since i've repainted that engine bay...it's pretty safe to say i haven't had time yet. though its coming back out moneay so i can re-route all the wires, as well as repaint the bay BLACK and put a new oil pan and timing chain cover on the motor...

GMpartsdirect has taken over 9 days just to ship my damn isolators out so i cant get the suspension on yet. and im not going to start the car until its ready to drive...its soooo tempting tho! But i did snap a new pic of the hotpart mounts and CAI, the mounts defenitly "clutter" the bay up so i think they will be powdercoated white. the CAI will end up being black i think, too bad its too big to fit into the oven.

well desktop dyno gave me a very ballpark figure of about 460 hp so im hoping for 420 flywheel HP. This is defenitly after the dyno tune though...well see, if it sint enough ive got a N2O kit sitting around

Well, a little update...I've had an enormous amount of problems with this stupid motor. AFPR is screwed, stripped my oil pan, next to nothing for voltage, tach is totally FUBAR, it wouldn't idle or stay running (its extremly rich) and much more I can't even remember right now. I wish I wouldn't have tried to start it and just left it looking good. Now the bay is getting dirty too

Word to the wise...Make sure you have the drive to finish something when you start it. I can see now why so many people completly give up on their project cars!

Sad to hear that its not coming along as expected, but does anything ever really? Ive had the most simple things always throw a curve ball at me, normally its always having to do with the rust factor under these cars. But oh well just stick with it, uve got so much there

That has got to be one of the cleanest engines bays ive seen in a third gen!

You have the rims I want on my car!

I'm trying to keep a positive attitude. I retapped my oil pan and put a new drain plug in it but will have to be EXTREMLY careful from now on. Holley has my AFPR and hopefully I get a working unit back from them. Joe has my chip in the mail so hopefully it will run decent. And I got my ypipe and exhaust on! (too bad its gonna leak a ton and is rubbing my oil pan) A few good things recently to keep my spirits up.
Money problems will put me in a bind for a while so nothing new can be bought, hopefully she'll run like she is...finally!
