Why are people replying to ancient postings?

I notice that people are digging out ancient threads from years ago and replying to them. No point to my post. Just thought it's strange.

When people ask a question that has been asked countless times, they get yelled at to search.

When people search and post in a thread from a long time ago, people get upset.

I don't get it. If someone wants to search rather than create another new thread on the same topic, whats wrong with that? The only thing that is annoying is when people dig something up for no reason at all.

I also don't get why people post pointless graphics and images in threads that don't belong in the first place.
