taillight idea

I am going to be "restoring" my taillights soon. I am going to totally disassemble the housings from the lenses and clean them inside and out. I am going to re-chrome the inside of the housings, clean the reflector, and put them all back together, then I am going to polish the outside of the lenses and repaint the black stripes, but I am considering doing the stripes a little thicker than stock... like maybe twice as thick. Check out this pic and see what you think... PS this is a photoshop attempt.

Since your asking for opinions I say you get this... ....... It would be original though, most people want to git rid of their grid lines.

Are you not limited by the width of the grooves making up the grid?

Kinda thinking the same thing myself, wouldnt the distance between the actual light surfeaces be as wide as they can be already?

There's nothing stopping him from painting outside of the grooves. You could experiment with some black tape to get a better idea of what it might look like.

i like the idea of painting the grid lines the same color as the car, but in your case, your car is black. so.....i think the tape idea would be best to get a full visual of what it would look like. it would be cool as long as it's not done too thick. cool idea though.

I am going to try some electrical tape tonight then some black duct tape... I may eliminate the middle row of lenses all together so it just leaves a top row and bottom row.

Here is an idea that I have used, not on a 3rd gen though:
Spray niteshades over a mesh cloth of your preference and then remove mesh. I would but I prefer stock appearing, shiny, red, and clear.
