There's quite a few topics on this, just use the search feature with say just the word shaved, door or handle and you'll find a bunch of them.

Not mine...if I remember correctly, the owner fashioned his own plate holder.

Hmm.. Ok..

Ive been in the process of doing this to my car now for most of this week. First thing you do is purchase your "poppers" I got mine from a local stereo shop that orders from a company called Micro. They cost me about 125 for the poppers, and for the springs. I am using an alarm as my brain for remote entry, therefore i wontneed any controll unit with these. Usualy a good kit with them goes for about 250 complete.

once that is done, you go ahead and if your like me start doing the body work yourself. We first removed the inner door panels and tehn removed the rods that the keycylinder and door handle use to manipulate the locking mechanism. Then you remove teh key cylinder. That is easy as it is only clipped in there. Then you remove the door handle which is held on by 2 10 mm self tapping nuts. Once you back them off the handle should fall right off.

Heres the fun part. INstalling the poppers. Luckily in an f-body there is pleanty of room to mount your popper right beneth the door locking mechanism.. thats the easy part. the hard part comes when you go to wireing. Im using a 4 relay setup fed with 4 guage power line in out to 2 8 guage feeds in the doors to ensure proper power feed for the poppers. A quick way to burn up a popper is to not give it enough power. Running the wires and wireing it should be the hardest part in my opinion as well as wiring it up into the alarm. BTW. I used 35lb poppers. they do the trick pretty good and werent absurdly expensive. (some popper kits can get upwards 400+ bucks.)

Now that youve got the handle off and your poppers installed, you need to go ahead and get your welder out and your scrap metal. In my case i used the outer door skin from an 88 chevy s10. I cut these panels to fit securely and snugly into the depressions where my keycylinder and door handle was. Weld these in place. Be careful to not get the door too hot, y ou dont wanna warp your door. Once welding is complete you grind off all excess and get as smooth of a surface as possible. Be sure to remove enough of the paint from the area with your grinder so that your fiberfill / bondo / whatever you choose to use will adhere well. I used bondo/fiberfill. from there its all basic body work. working out the fill until you cant tell its there anymore and then you go ahead and prime the sucker. Voila.. shaved door handles.

I think that covers it.. if i missed anything yall can think of lemme know.

thanks

-steve
