i was going to get an undercar neon kit for car shows and cruises and stuff. the kit it two 54" tubes for the sides, and two 30" tubes for the front.

will this cover most of the sides of the undercarraige and not leave 10 foot gaps between the end of the neon and the wheel well?

I know most will say neon is rice, but they need to go to a cruise night. Neon has been around for a lot of years and if done right is very tasteful. The kit you are talking about sounds like a pretty standard kit and should cover everything without any gaps. I didn't pay attention to where you are from, but make sure you check your local laws as far as it's use on the road.

I have a streetglow red neon kit under my blk 91 camaro rs. I have switched bulbs etc... to fit my night time car. Everything sounds right, just besure you know how to hook it up. The lights are bright so even if you had a gap, your neon should fill it up with light. I have postioned mine pretty well. Also, any hanging wires is a no no. Tuck them up under good. Also, under your hood, make sure your tramsformer is grounded or your neons may not come on often. may have to siwtch it on or off a couple of times before you get them on (had this problem). Just make sure its touching some medal. Sand the paint away if you need to (just a tad). Or just take it to someone who you know to fix it up or someone but the labor is a high in some places. Also, make sure to find out what your laws are in your state. Blue and Red are highly illegal around my area because they are emergency lights. Also we had the Blue light bandit (you can find articles about him im sure around the net) who used blue lights to pull people over and kill them. But I believe purple, green, yellow, white, etc... are find. But I dunno what your laws are. So g'luck.

-btw, neons aren't rice. neons are your basic eye candy. just the the white gage. with krypton bulbs.

i was going to get red, but i didnt even think about emergency light colors. im definately not going to ride with it on the street, just mainly out on cruise nights.

where do people get rice from when you put neon under your car for a cruise or show? i can think of like 8,000,000 different cars that ive seen with it, 1920 fords, 1999 vipers, 1990's civics, camaros of every year, you name it, i bet you someone had it installed and looked cool.

now having 20 foot gaps between your wheel wells and neon that doesnt light up the sides all the way, 4 different shades of your color on the sides, and a 10 inch exhaust tip to finish it off, thats a different story with rice.

thats why i wanna make sure mine is right.

sounds like the size kit I had (I broke all but 1 AND it was the second set for that car, but 1st I screwed up) I had blue ones they were BADA$$ I went with low glow, my friend had street glow on it before I bought it. Low Glow were deffinatly better.

And screw all you people that think neons are *****... If you don't like it don't put it on your car.

 

I hate to say it. But Low Glows are //NOT// Better. Why?? Order some Low Glows and Street Glows. For one you are going to notice the package difference. Street Glow is so perfect you are not going to get broken bulbs. Also, low glow wraps theirs in buble sheets. You may get broken bulbs. Did I mention Low Glow does NOT have a life time warrenty?? Street Glow does. The bulbs with low glow and almost half the size of street glow because street glow is more thicker and doesnt get water inside the tubing like Low Glow will or can. And breaking you bulbs?? You might want to set the position of the bulbs better. Under each camaro, (driver side and passenger) there are "guards" to set your neons above to protect from rocks, etc... I'll try to get a pic.

and also about "rice"
I think anyone uses the word "rice" to describe a car is an idiot anyways.

 

ok here is the deal. you can have any color of neons on your car as long as you are parked. at our cruises we can turn them on as soon as we hit the parking lots but not on the street, well that is in Illinois. In iowa we can have them on at all times.

and another law is that. the bulbs must not be able to be seen by a bystander looking at your car. so if the cop can see the bulbs you are done, ticket time.

so if you put them up under your ground effects then you will be fine. and remember dont let the wires hang down at all. the will get ripped off by road debry.
and go with something that accents your car.
there is a white Escalade around here with white lights and it looks awesome.

i am thinking about red bulbs JUST FOR CAR SHOWS. but i am leaning againt not doing it. i dont know yet. that stage will come at a very later moment

do u mean its illegal to see the bulbs themselves? because i want to install them so that all u can see is the glow of the light. when you see the bulbs, it looks tacky to me.

 

Does anyone have pictures of them at night. I have seen them but not for a while. Also does anyone know what the "rule book" in NJ. I think they are illegel but i am not sure.

 

if you think they are illegal. then they probably are. but in a parking lot you cant get in trouble for them. so if they are just for parking/show then you can have them..

yes just if you can see the actual bulb itself, then that is illegal.not the glow. the glow is what you want to see..

Where is the best place to buy the neon lights?

 

im getting mine from street glow (brand) i saw them in the JC Whitney import catalog, they have the kit im gonna get for $160.

im pretty sure it was

(2) 54" tubes
(2) 30" tubes

RARE is right. Cops will not pull you if you are "parked" however cops will pull you over with red or blue, neons bulbs hidden or not. They are reserved for emergency use only. However, here in my home town, the cops let the neons slid but blue. Because we had the blue light bandit who when and used blue lights to pull people over and dice the up, but thats another topic.

I just ride around with mine at night. I dont care to much. I have Prepaid Legal (www.rnrls.com) and it helps with courts So im not to worried. Least they can make me do is take them off, and I will just put them back on. no biggie.

here in iowa you can drive with anycolor on. it doesnt matter. but in Illinois, where we mostly cruise. you have to be in a parking lot. and you can also have any color. it doesnt matter. and the only people that ever get busted are dumb people that are new, and drive all crazy. so its all good. we can have whatever we want.
