Some new detailing products I tried...

I've pretty much tried all of the "off the shelf" products. I figured it was time to do some homework and try some of the products the professionals use. So I decided to use some Clearkote products.

I still use NXT, but it is not a "finishing/sealing" product. Not to mention many tests have shown poor durability. Many people had great sucess putting on a coat of NXT, and sealing it in with Carnuba Moose Wax. The CMW can be layered too! I've got three layers on mine. It seems with every layer, it got a "deeper/wet" look. I am 100% pleased. Their "Quik Shine" is also very popular among the quick detailers. So I tried that too, works very well.

^ I layered the CMW three times, so you could "say" I did three IROC's with that bottle, and there is bearly a dent in it!

Clearkote Carnuba Moose Wax:

Carnauba Moose Wax offers that deep, wet look so treasured by detailing enthusiasts. Like all of Clearkote’s products, application and removal is quick and easy. Also, you use a minimal amount of product in the process. The average mid-size car requires less than an ounce of product to complete. That means you can get close to twenty applications per bottle!
Clearkote Quik Shine:

-An excellent color enhancer and maintainer developed for use on all paint, metal, gel coat, fiberglass, plastic surfaces, glass, tinted windows, Lexan and Plexiglas.
-Used to maintain luster after polishing with Moose Wax or Vanilla Moose Wax Hand Glaze.
-Developed for the aviation industry to be used on Lexan and Plexiglass windows.
-Outside auto: Use on everything except tires.
-Inside auto: Use on everything except fabric surfaces.
-Will not leave fingerprints. Anti-static properties repels dust.
-Rain sheets off windshield without tracer marks or streaks from wiper blades, when they need to be used.
-Contains no Teflons, silicones, alcohol or abrasives.
-Makes metallics and pearls explode out of the paint at you. Enhances the color of all paints, reds are redder, blacks are blacker, etc..
Here is a picture when I finished. It might not appear any different than my other pictures, but it really is. I am more impressed with the "deep" look it gave my paint than the shine.

I tried to do a comparision here, but it was really hard with the angles/lighting.

I just thought I'd share my experience.

Wow man that looks great. Where do you get that wax from. I need to pick up some stuff like that.

Could you put like a klasse or zaino or wolfgang polish on before the moose stuff, or should you only use other wax before the moose stuff.

I ordered my wax from SMP - Specialty Motoring Products, and the Quik Shine from We Are Car Care ! Car Wax, Auto Detailing Supplies & Car Accessories

The Carnauba Moose Wax is a finishing/sealing product. I am almost positive that is suppose to be the last step. If the klasse/zaino/wolfgang polish are not finishing/sealing products, then you can use them before the CMW. I'm not too familiar with what they all are meant to do. I strictly looked into sealing products. I see a lot of people like that Klasse stuff though.

Looks awesome... your car is one of my favorites on this site! I love the clean stock look, and black is my favorite color as well!

I just recently repainted mine and i really like the blue stripe on your car. I know its factory, what was the code for it? I mean if i wanted to buy the stripes for mine what would i ask for?

Do you have any close up pics of the stripe you could send me?

I think im going to get that black magic wax because it got the best rating in consumer reports test on waxes (alot better rating than NXT). I would ideally like to put some of that moose wax over the top of it just as you put it over the top of the NXT.

Do you have any idea how durable it may be? My car is going to be outside alot and i would just like to know that the stuff is gonna stay on and keep it looking good for more than a week or two or three.

I've heard Clearkote makes fantastic products. I'm going to buy some Vanilla Moose and their Carnuba wax soon.

Just ordered it. Im probably gonna layer it over either meguiars gold class or black magic.

Won't be getting my new car (which is a secret btw!!! ) until the 15th but ill post a bunch of pics to unveil it and it should have the clearkote stuff on it by then.

youll be happy with the gold class wax. i used it on my bike. layered 3 or 4 coats on it and not only does it look like its covered in glass, nothing sticks to it! As soon as i start riding whatever dust/debris is on it just blows off.

Meguirs Gold Class definitly gets my official

How did you apply it? Did you do it all by hand or did you use a buffer/polisher?

If i had the paint to show it, id care a lot more for detailing products...but i dont so ill just stick with my NXT and Gold Class. Its not worth the extra money if the paint itself isant in the greatest shape.

Looks amazing though...

Hey Joe - for wax next time you're bored and wanna try something - check out collonites wax. You can only get it at advanced auto. I know the one on union by tops usually carry's it. Good stuff. Stay away from black magic tire gell - crap will kick up all over your paint - horrible product imo. Wanna come detail my ride?

For those of you who don't like the very glossy tires, but likes them black. I tried Meguiars tire gloss and this stuff is great. Makes the rims stand out more without all that shiney tire glaze.

Even if you covered your car with shlt, it still would look good.
