Few Pics of polished Driveshaft

well i bought a driveshaft off of ebay. The guy was selling it for 169.99, custom made. I was kinda skeptical, but he had good feedback. It came 41 inches center to center, 3.5" in diameter and with 1350 spicer u-joints in back, and a spicer u-joint in front for stock trans. yoke. I liked it when i first got it, but decided to polish it. Tell me what you think???!!!!!!

I polished mine too, and now that I realize that I never get to see it, I wouldn't do it again. Yours looks very nice though. The next drive shaft I polish will get hung in the garage so people can see it..

Axle/Gears: posi, and posi w/discs :D.
honsetly i wouldnt polish a driveshaft. no one will ever see it, and if they do, the rest of the underbody better be up to par as well. so i figure its kind of a waste of time. but the fact that its an aluminum drive shaft makes up for it.

Re: Few Pics of polished Driveshaft

How did you polish it? I recently bought an alum driveshaft and have started to polish it. I started with 400 grit, then wet sanded with 1000 and then 2000 grit. It looks ok, I still have not used any polishing compound though. I'm just wondering how you got yours that shiny.

i used aluminum polish, like for mag wheels, and a bench polishing wheel...i actually probably have to get back under and hit it again since my car is almost out of the paint shop.

Turns out I lied to myself. When I had the shaft out swapping in the T56, I grabbed my wheel and polished it out again

Re: Few Pics of polished Driveshaft

i think for those of us that love their car, we go the extra mile to make it look nice. all of it. i know i do. if i take something off the car, before it goes back on......i clean it. i would like to think of my car as a more go than show but one that would get....."man, that looks awesome." at a cruise in or show. otherwise it's just like every other camaro out there with a nice paint job.

I found some pics when doing my T56 on an old camera... Here is my polished shaft

Re: Few Pics of polished Driveshaft

Its a Marine thing, polish everything LOL. I spend a lot of time behind my wheel, it is worth the time to me, I have put a sheet of polished aluminum at the edge of my show cars and jacked up one side so they could see the undercarrige. I just picked up an aluminum shaft Tuesday and now guess what I am doing this weekend. I decided to do a smaller piece first

...It must be.....You know ATTENTION to detail....

I can sit for hours and wet sand and polish....My friends don"t know how I can do it, they are constantly asking me to do their stuff....If it's aluminum it will get polished....My soon to be x-wife has a 2000 WS6 and I did all the A/C lines (the cylinder thing), I also did the valve covers and the thermostat housing....

here's a few pics....i don't have pics of te LS1 valve covers sorry!!!!

This is a intercooler I did for a friend...it was scratched and gouged really bad...
