Man that stinks! I've lived here all my life

The audio stuff is already installed except for the subs, amp, and cd player that are yet to be purchased. But I think we're getting it from Best Buy which has free installation

And it just so happens that a guy that lives a mile from my house makes his living off of buying 3rd gens and parting them out on ebay. We bought a front clip off him for the '89 IROC we fixed up, and ended up buying this IROC off of him. He's always got something useful there!

I hope he doesn't part out the good ones, I've seen way too many beautiful third gens get parted. The dash I bought off eBay came from a 91 Z28 that only had 76k miles on the clock and it didn't seem like there was anything wrong with the car because they were also parting the rest of the car including the 350 TPI with trans and the posi & disk rear end. The car was black too, I would have bought the entire car in a heartbeat.

'86 or '87 was the first year I think. I kinda wanna say '86 because I heard that '85 was the only year for the light up on the glass.

86 was the only year for the high mount to be on the hatch glass. In 85 it was an option to get the thrid brake light, as it was not yet mandatory by the feds. 87-xx started the in spoiler light.

Not since we put the hood in primer this past weekend. Hopefully on Saturday I will spend my morning stripping the roof and trunk lid...that's if I can get my new front struts put on the convertible and I still have leftover time before I go to work. If not, then I'll try and do some more stripping on Sunday

The underbody is clean, so and the floor panels are rust free. The car really has NO rust on it except for the surface rust that was on the roof/A pillars/hood.

sweet car. Lucky you get to work on it as much as you do!

I'm also a college student and building a car with my dad. However i go to school about 3 hours away from his house. We get to work on the car about 2-3 weekends a month and thats it. It really makes it easy to have a great relationship with your dad when you have a common interest like this.

Anyways nice car, awsome find and i'm looking forward to seeing the final results.

When I get hitched, hopefully in 2009, I'm most likely going to be renting out the house my parents rent to another family. It has no garage right now, but if and when my soon-to-be wife and I move in there, my dad and I are going to build a very very large garage in the back yard.

I didn't get to strip the rest of the roof and trunk yet because the weather has been really crappy lately, and I haven't had time in between work and school. The car WILL be in primer before CHristmas though....hopefully

The plan is to have it completely done BEFORE spring rolls around.

I'm not sure on the paint code for it, I do however know it's the original blue from GM. It's not the exact same color as the convertible though, the color changed from '90 to '91.

I've heard that that is the name for it,but I also read that WA9591 is the paint code for Ultra Blue Metallic, which is what is on the convertible. So either I have the wrong code for the vert, or that's the wrong code for the '90.

We just got hit with a lot of snow and ice, and it still hasn't thawed out. It's been almost a week since it happened, and it's cold as crap. Can't paint it with it being this cold, it'd make for a crappy paint job....since we're going to do it in our garage again. We PROMISE to have the car COMPLETE before spring, which could be Jan, Feb, who knows...but it WILL be done before spring I promise. I want to take this thing to a few shows next season and have both cars side by side

Honestly, there's only one Firebird that I'd really like to restore and it'd be a gunmetal '88-'90 GTA, but I can't find one in decent shape for a good price, and close by

bluezee... I happened to notice on your cardomain site that your Major is mechanical engineering... I'm currently going to Purdue for the same thing. When do you graduate? ( I know this has nothing to do with the car I'm just curious ).

I don't plan on modding it visually or mechanically. It's somewhat or a hard to come by car, and I'm not one to go ***** to the walls in appearance mods either.

I actually transferred out of engineering school this year, I was attending the University of Missouri-Rolla. But I lost interest in the field, and I'm about to get my associate's of arts at community college, and hoping to go to aviation school in the near future to be a helicopter pilot.

Here is the pics of my formula as it sits now. I got it friday after thanksgiving. It came with a 350 tpi motor and 700r4 trans that was not installed yet. The guy who also had just got it about a month before that didn't have any time to install it. I got the trans apart for a rebuild and the engine is at the machine shop. The body and paint are in really good shape, I hope to get the paint buffed to actually see what shape its really in. The front and rear bumpers will have to be repainted. I have the interior mostly done, pulled it out yesterday and powerwashed the carpets and steam cleaned the seats and reinstalled them today. Hopefully to have it running in a month or 2.

I now this was talked about some time ago, but looking at the sticker you posted it is WA9591. BTW nice project, I recently picked up a 89GTA that I will be working on in the spring.

The body and paint are in really good shape, I hope to get the paint buffed to actually see what shape its really in. The front and rear bumpers will have to be repainted. Thanks alot for those kind words. The kid that bought that IROC is really taking good care of it, which is what I like to see. He's got the windows tinted and put an alarm and stereo in it. He's looking to get some ZR1's for it too
