I really want to see what it would look like if I replaced my exhaust on my 91 GTA, and instead of just re-using my original, downward angled tailpipes, if I used the newer, shinier stright tailpipes.
Basically it is an appearance thing. Just curious if anyone out there has done it and has a pic or two of it!

Axle/Gears: Drums?
Hey Jimbo. This isn't related to the tailpipe question, but are those firehawk rims? If not what are they? This is assuming that's your car.
Hey Apone, it's not a T/A, but hope it helps to give you an idea about the tips. Here's a shot of my '91 WS6 'FORM. I got the tips hung in a way that they tilt down just slightly. It looks better to me that way and besides, it helps keep whatever fluid in the tail pipes/tips drained (to save the chrome in the long run).

...I bought them from SLP back in 1993...they were $295 each with an additional $60 charge per wheel if you wanted the insets painted any color other than red. My wheels are 17" x 10", but they also offered a 17" x 8.5" version that had Argent insets...
...they have a 5" backspacing and 275/40/17 tires fit on all four corners without any rubbing.

Hey nFORM91...beautiful car and wheel combo...
...a little note of trivia, in 1992, the only way you could buy a Formula 350 with a T-Top was to order those wheels you have on your car (RPO PW7) as an option...otherwise the computer would kick out your order...
...go figure...

Hey Jimbo,
Thanks for the kudos. Where the heck can I find some SLP/Ronal 17x9.5s?? I could've sworn your car was a bonafide Firehawk! Man... would I love to have a set!!
Whatever you do... don't sell yours, you may never find those bad boys again!

I had my car parked next to a real 3rd gen Firehawk at one of the Atlanta shows, and other than the air intake plenum piece and the automatic tranny cable bracket on mine the cars looked identical under the hood. If you looked inside, the obvious difference was that the real Hawk had the 6-speed, and mine had the slushbax, but mine had an original Firehawk rollbar in it, and his didn't...I really wanted to buy a Firehawk in '91 when they first came out, but surely couldn't have swung the $40K base price tag. By buying all the pieces for it from SLP, it probably cost me a total of right around $20K at the time, including the price of the car.
