Why are Thiird Gens the best generation?

I was not very sure where to put this thread so here it goes:

Lately, I have been riding my friends '02 firehawk. It always gets me wondering what our cars would be like if it we had some of the nice commodities that the new car has, or the grunt of a 454.

While, pondering around the 4th gen you look at things that you always wish you had, such as; speakers in the door, 4 in the rear (including hatch area), or a 6 spd, cup holders, a damn glove box, runs low 13's from factory yada yada....

Yes, you can "install" an ls1, and a fourth gen interior, and a 6spd. But you are trying to be a 4th gen.

So... Why are our cars great compared to others?

Because we can change spark plugs within a weekend? Because they are cheap? Because we had knight rider?

Post your opinions on why our generation is best.

This is not a pissing contest, haters, disrespectful people will have post reported to mods. Let's keep it real folks.

Personally, I like the looks more. Don't get me wrong, I like a 4th done right. But, Prefer a nicely don't 3rd Gen.

We had the IROCs.

A 3rd gen IROC, 1LE, WS6, etc will beat a 4th Gen SS, WS6, etc when it comes to handling. Plus, 3rd Gen Firehawks own 4th Gen ones, when you compare the 3rd Gen T/A to a 3rd Gen Firehawk and a 4th Gen T/A to a 4th Gen Firehawk and note the difference between the T/A and Firehawk.
ok, I hope that's not as confusing as I think it is.

And 3rd gens don't weight in the 3600 range in most cases.

For me, the look of the car alone was my initial attraction. After getting in and riding in it ('86 T/A) I fell in love with the car. It has an indescribable feel to it that I just don't get in any other car. It's also very moddable. The other reason I like it, is that it was fairly cheap to get and is a car that I can learn and work on.

I never much cared for what they did with 4th gen quarter panels. They just look kinda bulbous and swoopy.

Oh, yea. Other than the lack of cup holders, I like the 3rd Gen Camaro "cockpit" look. Exposed screws, minimalist approach. And the dash is too weird not to like.

looks, handling, "different-ness"

I did steal one of there 6 spds though :P

I too like a nicely done 4th gen...but i just dont like seeing base models all day long or even 4th gen z28s all day long. I rarely see a 3rd gen in my area...and a nice one at that...its once in a blue moon.

Flares over the wheel wells. For some reason, the flat edges on all of the newer cars look too plain for me.

Same here. The majority of 4th Gens are...mundane. And common. I just think that with the exeption of a SS or WS6, they lack flair. But then, most 3rd gens here lack.... fenders.

Oh, yea. 3rd gens made in US....4th gens made in Canada.

PS, I'm coming to Springfield for a look at the Z.

ok ive had my iroc for about 3 years now, im in the process of putting a 454 in it right now, im debating on what i should do to it, one of my friends has had a 93 camaro and has a 97 ws6 now, his camaro was stock with a cat back and it just had a "wild" feeling to it, i can really explain it, it wasnt the fastest car i have been in but it would just RIP, his ws6 is faster but feels more refined, Ive been debating what i want to do with my car because i liek the body style but when i rode in those cars they just felt different, im hoping whne i out the BB in my car i will get a better quality "crusier", when i say that i mean just have fun car, im also putting a t56 in and i know i liek the shifter feeling on the t56 better, both my friends cars where t-56's and i loved them, heres some pics of his cars, my competition, im hoping to get my car painted SOM and get some black/polished C6 wheels

Hello Ned,
I would take a 1st gen over any gen anyday (SEXY). Second gens IMHO are too long! I hated the 4th gens until I saw the FB's nose (wicked.) I agree that 3rd gens are awsome and with some minor mods you can make the vehicle as state of the art as you can afford.

I find my '92 fun to drive...decent power, good handling.

Primarily, though, the appeal is from image...I love the lines and stance of the car. I also like the fact that thirdgens are less common than 4th gens. Owning one is sort of like being in a club.

I did just buy a '95 Formula, though, and I have to say that it has its advantages, too. Hated their look until I saw this particular one in person, and now I am starting to like them a lot.

Still prefer '91-92 Formulas/TAs over all, though.

In my opinion, there is nothing that looks better than a thirdgen done right. Also somewhat rare for where I lived and I dig cars you don't see everyday. Also have a 92 nissan nx2000.

There is a generation of car for everyone.. not limited to f-bodies. There is no 'one generation' that is better because that is a matter of perception on what you see in the vehicle.
Variety is the spice of life.

Unfortunately, this is not exactly A & D related.
