American Racing Torque Thrust 2s, 17x8". I paid just under $1600 for wheels, tires and all. They're the best looking wheel on a 3rd gen other than the GTA wheels I had before in my humble opinion.

I paid $950 for my wheels with tires already mounted and balanced. I bought them because my friend was selling them and I have a knack for chrome ZR1's.

Think I payed $1570us shipped for a set of Boyd Smoothie II 8"/10" custom built 18" wheel. After looking around for years I think there one of the best looking wheels for a Trans Am, plus you can't beat the deep dish look. I have more pic's in my sig but the wheels look much better in person

Boyd Coddington 'Hotrods' 18x8 18x10 around $2000
I got them because until I first saw them on Graboids old vert, I had not found a design that stood out so much that it made me notice the wheels before the car...these did just that. A simple 5 spoke design, but more refined and bold. Add in the fact that they are custom made to my specs, and have a deep smooth dish, and I was left with a look that completed my car perfectly - I probably get more compliments on them than any other part of the car.

17 by 8 Eagle 211's. Just like a TTII, only a little cheaper.
I paid $1300 for wheel and tire combo, but I also get stuff at cost.
Wrapped in BFGoodrich G-Force T/A KWDS 245/45ZR17's.
Sorry for the pixelation of the picture, not sure why it's like that.

I paid a little over $1600 for my 17" Boyd Coddington Hot Rods. I chose them because a) they're 5-spokes ( as all rims should be ) b) they're Boyd Coddingtons c) they're polished aluminum so I will never have to worry about the chrome chipping and cracking and d) because I knew exactly what would look good on my car and I just kept searching til I found it.

I paid $65 for my turbocast N89's. light and stealthy looking with the black caps fitted.
I'm doing a Knight Rider car, (Yeah I know I'm LOL) but I would have bought them anyway since I always wanted a '82.

my biggest reason was that the smoothie II (although a beautiful wheel) has two characteristics that I do not like in a wheel. 1 - they are too closely related to the TTII or crager type design....too many people have them and I wanted to be more unique. 2- I don't like the curvature of the spokes. I like how mine start out thin and expand out, but remain flat. This way they look big and stand out from a distance (Ive had a number of people ask me if they were 20's...and standing from certain angles they do look that big)....the boldness of a straight line defines what I was looking for - sharp and to the point.
----------
it's funny you picked both sets from Boyd...although he's an *** on tv, the man makes some incredible and classic designs...quality was exceptional too

i picked these rims b/c they are not a fad, or style for this era, it is a replica wheel so they will look good forever, even when times change and different styles come along, b/c essentially they are stock wheels just a little bigger and chromier lol

I paid around $800 shipped. Coy's C-5, painted, 18x8. I used the money I saved from buying other wheels to show how pretty the lip on these rims are. Then Ohio University took it for a sliver of my tuition.

Car: Pair of 92 Z28s
17x8 front 17x9 rear ROH Snypers.
Reason why:
I wanted affordable 17s, wanted a nice polished 5 spoke rim with some lip, direct bolt up no adapters or spacers.
Rims were $600 used + about $450 for tires
= $1050
I like them a lot and they get a lot of compliments, and they are a good all around size for handling/drag/show. I think they compliment my car well.
My fav wheels right now are Boyd Smoothies, they are similar to TT2s which is why i like them so much but they are distinctly different also. Everyone has TT2s because they are a classic great design, Lots of billet rims to me dont fit a third gen, its a more modern car from the 80s it needs more sport/muscle type rims not so much pro-touring hot rod like rims that you find on alot of 50s vehicles. Just my opinion though. I love smoothes.

17X8 KMC Venom on all four corners with P245/45/ZR17 Dunlap SP5000 when I put them on the car about 4 years ago. Wheels are the same, tires have since changed. Originally brand new about $2000. I chose the wheels because they look good are different than what everyone else is running. The wheel has since been discontinued by KMC, but have seen it available on various wheel & tire sites.

What I paid for my wheels are none of your business, But I did choose my 17x11 black zr1's for the wide contact patch I can lay down. and they were cheap. and they look good. and that is all.

This is the only other pic's I have see with a camaro with Smoothie II in 18", they look pretty sweet even on the camaro. I think Daytona T/A is the only one I know of that has Hotrods on his Bird.

I bought these 17x9.5 ZR1's with Nitto 555 RII's for $830 shipped
I like the look of the 5 spoke design
I bought these ARE 16x9.5 2 peice wheel for $300 with new tires since it has a nice classic look to them. I ended up selling them since the offset was too positive with the 4th gen backing and stuck out too much.
The wheels I really want are the Fikse FM5's, but at $800/wheel with no tires, they are just a tad to rich for my blood.

17x9.5 WS6 wheels with almost new KDWS tires. Polished aluminum. Got them for around $700. My reason for going with these was I was in a pinch. During my LS1 swap, I used a 4th gen rear, and LS1 front brakes. SO...I needed a new wheel combo. Couldnt afford TTiis AND new tires to go with them...so I went with these. So far Im happy with them. Took alittle to get used to. I liked my GTA gold wheels.

I replace the stocker 15's with some GTA's I picked up with tires from a forum member for under 200 bucks:
I'm currently on the market for new wheels since the LS1 brake swap on the fronts means I have to run a spacer on the GTA's to make them work with these awesome brakes.
If I could find the wheels like "82firebird's" with gold spokes I would be all over that.

I had a set of Pro Stars (skinnies up front and slicks in the back), i got sick of the slushy handling and impracticality of it.. so i opted for these instead
Centerline Daggers 17x8 front 17x9.5 rear. I paid $2560 for the wheels and tires. Alot of money but probably one of the best things i've done to the car. I always had a soft spot for these wheels, i think they match the car pefectly, they are forged billet aluminum, plus i've never seen anyone else with them

i got the boyd smoothie 2;s, i was one of the first an knew they looked like tt2's , so i got them to be safe .I didnt wanna spend 1600 bucks and then be mad , so i played it safe with my design . I also went with the stepped lip since im running 18s with rubber bands and a stiff suspension and crappy roads , so i didnt wanna bend the flat lip . I like em , but theirs also some others id like to see on my car now .

19" boze stingers and i'd rather plead the 5th on the price... i will tell you this much. you can purchase a set of boyd's in 18" with toyo proxies for the price of the michelin's on them.
i wanted something as close to the factory 91-92 16" wheel but extremely clean lines. never spend that money again on rims...

no pics to post yet but i have the 17x8 ROH snypers up front and the 17x9 snypers out back and they cost me about 850 new shipped to my door about 3 or 4 years ago.....just put rubber on them this year finally and went with b/f goodrich g force kdw 245/45/17 in the front and 275/40/17 in the rear. total with rims and tires were about 1600. its a simple design wich i think fits our cars well and easy to maintain. plus they are open alot and you can see my z06 brakes behind them.

SLP Silver ZR1s, 17x8 I bought them last year at this time, they were clearing them out, they had free shipping (normally 100+ shipping). They were marked down from 699 I think to 499. So I bought those, then I went too a place that sells new tires whole sale, name brand. 57$ for each tire, Discount tires buys some of their stock from them as well (well the local ones). They had the same set for 97$ each. So I spent about 800$ altogether after getting center caps, tires... all the extras.
I bought them because I love the lip, I love the ZR1 Style.... Modern, yet simple, but very aggressive. A lot of good pics on these forums with those rims. I had to have them. They are on the 83 z28 right now, Soon too be on the 88 iroc I just bought haha. 245x45x17 for the front, will get something a little bigger on the back.
I think I got a bargain :P

Intro GT 8"/10" 255/275 $2500 with KDW's ; six week wait(custom Billet). Alot of $$ to me but was worth it after spending three years building the car I wanted it to be unique.

Boyd Coddington Magento 17's, paid roughly $1500 after rubber. I didn't like them at first, but they've since grown on me. Perhaps I'll buy a different style one day.
And I gotta say unbelievably clear pics TunedPort335... just amazing!

Hey Brisk - If you get tired of those wheels you should paint the centers of them a really dark grey like on your Iroc stripes. I saw a 2nd gen in Popular hot rodding a while back that looked super sweet with those same wheels painted grey in the center.
Just a thought!
