Why the camaro is not so good W/O GFX? but the Firebird can be both ?

I've just realized...
Firebirds looks Great as Trans ams...85-90...imo the 91-92 gfx looks silly
Camaro looks great with GFX !! but without them...they doesn't look good
Firebird formulas looks sleek and modern, sofisticated feel
But camaros don't
i don't want to start a battle,i like both cars...but its just an observation !
what you think ?
Its something of the square design lines of camaros ?
Its something that Pontiac put more effort on designing the Firebird version?
Which was designed first...camaro or Firebird 3rdgen ???
Let's discuss

I think it has everything to do with how square the camaro is (I should talk with my hood!) but something about the design just screams for it to have it be as low to the ground as possible

i was beggining to think i was the only one who thought this

non gfx camaros can look good i think, more difficult to pull off though...me, i cannot whether to lower it to make up for no gfx or bigger rims or leave it as it sits. i have seen a few non gfx cars that to me look better than any other camaro. i love the way my car is right now it just somtimes looks strange from the front. i thought about doing gfx on the front only, i saw a picture in a magazine once like that and it looked friggin awesome.

I used to hate gfx-less camaros, until i saw mw66nova's car. It all depends if the rest of the car compliments there being no gfx.

lol i completely agree with that statement and mw66nova lives right down the street from me! his car is the first non-gfx car that i liked and since i saw his i now give other gfx-less cars another look and there are alot of nice looking non-gfx cars on this board.

but personally i love the gfx, i would not want to have a car without the gfx its just not my style.

Ill also say that 99% of camaro's without GFX look ugly...

But with the right accessories the odd one doesnt look too bad at all without them!

mw66nova's camaro looks good because of its stance and wheel/tire combo.. it screams old school.. huge meats on the back, skinnies up front, 12.3 on a 305ci, no bullshit..

lol, thanks!

as far as cutting the springs goes, as long as you do it with a cut-off wheel, it's no big deal, but if you use a torch, you'll damage the springs and really screw up the spring rate. i kept mine cool when cutting them by taking my time and spraying them down with water.

ya thats how i did mine but you also take into consideration that they are going to settle after you cut them. i originally did this on my iroc and when i cut em it wasnt low enough so i removed them and cut em again to get it where i wanted it... well after a little driving it was rediculously low, that is why i know have intrax.

I don't run GFX on my car. I like the way it looks and I have no intention of putting any on. It doesn't look too great now, but after paint it should. I wanna do white, but I don't want it to end up looking like a copied mw66nova's car. Black should do nicely.

i think trans am's with ground effects before 1991 look bad.

With the right wheels, hood, spoiler, paint color, interior color, and/or other details...about any thirdgen can look really good, gfx or not. White 91-92 firebirds with ground effects look really good with chrome c5 ZO6 rims for example. Silver Firehawk rims look good on non-gfx firebirds with the 91-92 spoiler for another example.

Look at mw66nova's, shr00m's, gambit69's, Camaroguy18's, Sickness91Z28's, and Zepher's. Just great examples and each car is quite different.

mw66nova, that cars looks SO damn good...No ground effects needed....AND if I had my choice between a camaro, or the pontiac version, it would have to be the camaro.....

I love this thread. I've been dying to see lowered firebird's with rims. So anyone know how low you can go before driving it starts to suck?

I am a Camaro fan until the end (I have owned 10), but the Firebird and Trans Am were always meant to be the more refined and luxurious of the 2 F-Bodys...
