Pics of my Ragtop w/ new TT II's

Sorry for the crappy quality, but the dumb@$$ at Wal-Mart made the pics in matt finish, and they don't scan very well.
But anyways, this is what it looks like:

Here are some more, but I'll just link them so the thread won't take forever to load.

Pic 1
Pic 2
Pic 3
Pic 4
Pic 5
Pic 6

I also lowered the car a couple of weeks ago with a set of Jamex 1.5" lowering springs.
These pics were taken with the car down hill, thats why it looks a little high on the rear still.

Enjoy,

Ken

Thanks guys,
Screamin, Im running 275/40x17s all the way around, and it would be a lie to say there is a lot of clearance, but I have no rubbing, so Im satisfied!

RagTop, I'm slightly confused, are you saying rubbing due to the rims or the lowering..?
Anyways, I don't scrape anymore than I did before the lowering since the car is much stiffer - but maybe we just have good roads
I scrape in the same places I did when the springs/wheels were stock, which is mostly in/out of certain driveways that are too steep....

As I mentioned above, naturally there isn't a LOT of clearance, so I'm sure if I hit a pothole hard or something like that, that it will rub - but not with regular driving/cornering etc.
ONLY time I hear a little rubbing is when I back up and turn the wheels all the way over - and that was also the case with my original 16" IROC rims with the std 245 tires on them.

Now, this might be different with rims with a different offset or other tires, but this combo worked out real well.

Offset matters a TON with whether you'll scrape or not. I've got the Jamex springs too (Where'd you guys get them? I heard that they're no longer sold in the US), plus 100+lbs of stereo equipment in the trunk, so the back of my car sits REAL low. I can only fit 1 finger between my tire and wheel well. Anyway, I get absolutely no rubbing with the stock wheels with p255 50 ZR16 Dunlap tires, but my winter wheels (Don't worry, they're just on the car while it sits in the garage with the car cover) are the 15" Centerlines that I used to have on my firebird. They have a little bit of a positive offset, and with P235 60R15 Dunlaps, the tires rub like a bastard over bigger bumps.

Oh, by the way: What offset do you have? Your back wheels (and maybe the front too) seem to stick out more than stock.

I have 5.5" backspacing on the rear and 5.25" up front. They do stick out a little more than stock of course, but not very much. I didn't measure the stock ones, so I'm not sure exactly how much.
Also, I forgot to mention to the guys that put on the mounted the tires to take away the original spacers in the rear, so I'll do that this weekend. I'm taking off the rears anyways to fine adjust the APR as it isn't quite there yet.

Oh, forgot to answer about the Jamex springs - BMR had them on a blow out sale. They bought the springs that Jamex had in stock over here when they decided to close their business here.
BMR sold them for $99.95/set

I'm talking about the air dam. You may want to trim a tad off of it. Its like an inch and a half from the ground. That will eliminate the scraping over the driveways and such. That was what I was implying. It doesn't cause any problems with air intake.

[edit]Ken-have you ever driven in PA? It is some of the worst roads I've ever seen. I won't lower my car as some of the potholes swallow my car now.

Sweeeeett!!! I love it man. Looks awesome. Of course, I'm biased towards red Zs because that's what I have. I have similar looking rims (Cragar SS knock-offs) on my car but they're only 15". Too bad huh? I love the way those rims make the tires stick out so subtley.

89RagTopRS,
Oh, okay I get ya'. Sounds like a great idea to trim the airdam a little bit. So, I won't experience an increase in temp from that though..??

LOL, no, I've never driven in PA and from your description I don't think I dare try either..LOL

Overclk, LMAO - the thing is that I use it to get mod money, I've broken all the phoneboots in town and then I go out and place the car nearby the broken phoneboots and charge an astronomic price for people who have to make calls.. ...how'd ya' think I paid for them rims..?? LOL

Mine's an inch and a half shorter than it started and it runs 185 and goes as high as 220 sitting in heavy traffic. With the lowering, you shoud scoop as much as you always have, minus most of the garbage in the road.

In the countries best roads for last year, PA was forty something. Impressive.

Kick A$$. That looks great. It is amazing what wheels can do. I know what you mean about driveways, I always scrape coming out. Looks great. Always nice to see good looking third gen vert's.

i did quite sum damage to the last 3rd gen i owned (2 years ago btw), i had it lowered 2" with 205/50/15's (i was poor and the only rims and tires i could afford were 15's back then)
it was so low, that the oil pan got beat up so bad it looked outside-in, and the air dam scraped off on a driveway
so when i traded it in, it was basically a beater

Your car looks great. Also you can lower our cars alot before you have to worry about scraping. I used to scrape a little bit when I was stock height and I still do now ( a little bit more ) but not much more. I now just have to be more carfull about speed bumbs, drive ways and pot holes etc. It rides rough as hell when its hella low though. Also I noticed that I drive much slower now that I lowered it and put rims on- Since i have to be more carfull. Now maybe I can keep my license
