Anyone watch MTV Cribs with Dale Earnhardt Jr.?? He had a brand new SS that he said they were producing called the Intimidator series (after his dad obviously) and his was the first 1... 381 horsepower. it looked bad *** .

It isn't *new* - I believe his was a 97(?). They were made a few years back so it is not a commemorative editon made after Earnhardt passed.
However, it is a sweet @$$ car, I sure wouldn't mind owning one!!!

no its a 2001 model.. 40 grand.. 381 hp small block v8, stiffer suspension.. and it is a tribute to earnhardts tragic demise.

Nope. I got a picture in one of my magazines (I'll scan when I find it) of Dale sitting in one of those 2001 Intimidator Camaros. They were making them before he died.

I'm fairly certain I read somewhere about a new intimadator SS coming out next year or late this year.. perhaps that is it... I saw the show too.. It's different from the original intimidator SS by the markings it has on it and stuff..

well guys they just came out. BLUEBOY1011's uncle has one. he sold his mint 1969 Yenko Nova for one, he and his father both got one each. The uncles is the signed edition, and the fathers is not. The uncle paid 42,000 i believe, and it is worth over 100,000 since so little were made, and with 381 HP i would have some fun. and all the parts are eliminated from buying. they broke the mold already. two of the cars when getting unloaded, their wheels were scratched and they cant replace them because the mold has been broke. for obvious reasons.
and dont worry about the YENKO, he also has a 100% original YENKO that is 1 of 2 and the other has been destroyed so its the only one like it. and he has declared never to drive it again. man wouldnt it be nice to be rich.
thanks for listening. and maybe someday i will be lucky enough to get my hands on one of these beasts.!!

I am a camaro boy, but wouldn't you all rather see a 381 horse RWD Monte SS for Dale Sr. instead of a Camaro? If they were RWD Monte's they'd sell 1,000,000,000 times quicker than the Camaros.

Yeah, my uncle has the 21st Intimidator SS signed by Dale Earnhardt. By the way, there are only about 32-38(not exactly sure how many)that are actually signed out of the 50 made. He didn't get a chance to sign the others before he died. It also has about 413 hp but for insurance reasons they put 381 on the hood.

hey red, no reason to get personal, I just mearly made a statement of opinion. If you didn't think they look similar, say so. Keep your f$%king personal insults to yourself. 2cents is fine, but not making derogatory comments about me!

That is one nice Monte, it does need some minor body adjustments but if I had a pocket of cash I'd make GM make me one . Is that phantom lettering or something?

that monte carlo was/is called the "Intimidator" it was a concept car about 2 years ago. It looks awesome. If you look just right, the production Monte that came out of it looks quite similar, but the Intimidator was 1,000 times more aggressive. And subsequently 1,000 times cooler However i'm almost certain it was front-wheel drive. just really strong. like 300+ horsies. it was a wildly modded 3.8.

Is it just me or weren't we talking about a 2001 SS Camaro that was signed by Dale Earnhardt?? Not a Monte. This topic all of a sudden got boring.

hell, I don't think it's boring. I'd rather be driving around in a 381 horse monte than a 381 horse cam SS. Hmmm ok you see a run of the mill 01 camaro SS you think oh my, a Camaro SS, you instantly think of an amazingly fast car. You see a 01 SS Monte Carlo next to it @ a stoplight, and you think SS my aS$. it's only got 200 horse, capable of 0-60's in 7.7 or so. whoop-dy doo. than that monte SS blows away that camaro SS at the stoplight, and you in your thirdgen try to desperately keep up just to see that monte fly. And you think what the hell was that??? I want one. The fact is the new Monte Carlo's don't deserve the SS nameplate, neither will the current impalas EVER. we all realize that they are sporty LOOKING corporate FWD midsize cars. That's why a 381 horse 2001 Monte Carlo SS would be so cool. It's a sweet looking car, but you'd never expect it to keep up with a Camaro SS. But If I saw one blow away a Camaro SS, Id jump in line to buy one. Here's the way I look at it.
Malibu SS ------> maybe in '71 not in '01
Impala SS ------> maybe back in '66 not now
Monte SS -----> maybe back in '71 not now
Camaro SS -- back in '71, yup, now, even more deserving of it.
Silverado SS - bring it on, the Lightning needs a whooping.

in other words, all the aforementioned vehicles would be awesome and interesting if they had some real power, even comparable to the current camaro SS. but GM has watered down the cars. i don't think any of them with something to really make them SS's would be boring @ all. But as they are none deserve the SS unless they get something done to them for them to live up to it. that's why the malibu and impala will never get it, and the monte doesn't deserve it. Bring back the Z34, but keep the SS till it deserves it.

Ok, I'm done raving

so you are saying that a old SS Monte can beat a new Camaro SS. Son you have a lot of elarning to do. Can your monte run to 60 in about 5 flat. Your monte is just like an L03 but heavier.

You know what "man", the SS Camaro doesn't even have 381 horsepower ok, it's got about 413, so whenever you want to take your 381 horsepower Monte up against one you go ahead and we'll see who wins that race.
