Firebird front ends

I've been lookin into Firebirds, and I seem to find at least 3 diff fron ends on them. the one that I like is this one

I also see this...

which is ok...

then this one, which seems to be on all 91-92 birds

anyway I'm just looking for clarification, it seems that the first one is a trans am/gta style (85 and on) while the second seems to be just the regular firebird model. am i right??? thanks for any help

Yup pretty much. Picture #1 is the 85-90 Trans Am nose, it is also found on Firebirds with the sport appearance package (gfx) Picture #2 is the 85-90 Firebird nose found on the base models with out gfx and on the Formula's. And #3 would be all 91-92 'Birds.

You don't see this one as much it is the 82-84 nose.

There are 4 basic types.
1.) 82-84 all (like mine, see pic below)
2.) 85-90 Trans Am, GTA, TTA (the one you said you like
3.) 85-90 Firebird, se (the one you said is ok)
4.) 91-92 all (like phantom said, the formulas are slightly different, but it is the same bumper.
only different lights and plastic inserts.)

this is the 82-84 style. All the others are pictures above.
Sorry, its an awful pic, my camera sux

if they put gfx on the formula it would b a TA! the whole point of the formula was to have the power of a TA with out the heavy gfx

Exactly what was said earlier! GM developed the TA as an upgraded version of the base model with a bigger engine and the ground effects! Then GM got the idea that people wanted the bigger engine but still wanted the base look of the firebird so in 1987 GM started making the Formulas! (Which was the same year that GM quit making the S/E's) The same year, GM started the GTA's which is just a TA with better options and most have a 350 instead of the 305 that was basic in the TA! Somewhere around the same time, GM figured well, now people are going to want the option of a 350 engine but with the base look of the firebird and so came the Formula 350!!
