!!!! i finaly got mine!!!!!
my first third gen and also my first v8, last week i bought a 86 IROC-Z. i think i got a good deal on it. the dude wanted $2,700 o.b.o i went and ofered him $2,000 and he took my offer, ha ha i'm so happy with it.

i seriously need center caps

should i get rid of my fuzzy dash pad? it was like that when i bought it

what sucks is that the driver door does not have the stripes and the IROC-Z vinyl

Nice car, feels good to own your first real v8 doesn't it? Nice speedometer. I keep telling my self to get one that goes to 145 but I am doing other stuff to the car right now, such as body work and getting it painted soon. I have the speedometer that only goes to 85. Good find by the way. Enjoy it to the fullest.

Sorry to burst your bubble man but that's just a Z28 with Iroc-z decals thrown on it. Your car has the Z28 wheels, Z28 dash emblem, and Z28 lower body stripes..
Still clean and cool nonetheless!

Re: !!!! i finaly got mine!!!!!
Nice ride, but I to have to agree with Gr89RS. That's a nice Z28 (not Iroc).In addition to what Gr89RS mentioned . . .
- The lower body moldings on an Iroc were also body colour. Your ride is 2-tone (lower moldings being a different colour).
- The one IrocZ door decal that is on the car isn't original or even in the right place for an '86. It should be towards the front of the door.
Check your car's RPO list. The sticker with them (if it's still there) can be found inside the front console between the seats, or sometimes in the rear storage compartment. If the sticker is there, check that the VIN on the top of the sticker matches your cars VIN by the windshield. If it does, then your ride would have to have the RPO B4Z to be an IrocZ.
Still, it's a very nice ride and a good deal.

Re: !!!! i finaly got mine!!!!!
Ok, I dont know the code for IROC, but I see that it is a LB9 (305 TPi) w/ a 700R4.
I thought that some of the base model irocs in 1986 got the Z28 wheels?
Get rid of the fuzzy ****. If it turns out to be a Z28, don't sweat it, still a steal and still a freakin sweet car.

Dude, a very genuine CONGRATS!!!!
That is a sweet find. Yes it is a Z-28, and not the IROC as such, but still a great starter car. Mine first f-body was pile, 1978 camaro I-6, 3 speed..... UGH.
Rims/tires and a goos waxing and you are in there!
Lastly, the RPO's tell me you have the low end TPI motor, and 2.73 gears
(GU2). These 2 items may have you over in the TPI board soon asking why the car is slow. Realize there is likely to be a (peanut cam) in the motor, and the gears are killing you. Do a search, there is crazy info out there to read up on.
KEEP IT BETWEEN THE LINES, AND 'ROC ON !!!
SHAGGY
'89 SHAGGY IROC
L98, W/C T5, all free stuff,T.E.S.,HOOKER CAT BACK,KYB,ACCEL8.8,JET fan sw. etc. 14.1@ 100.01 MPH w/t-5, installed my 3.27 B/W. 244 HP/347 FTLBS ON THE GROUND!!! Not bad for just bolt-ons.
so much to do , so little money

AFAIK all z28's came with posi's... check and see if the vin on that RPO tag matches your car because according to that you have a 305 "LB9", either way its a nice 3rd gen

B4Z . . . so it's not an IrocZ
His RPO sticker does say . . .
Z28 . . . so it is a Z28
LB9 . . . so it has a 305 LB9 (not unusual)

Also note that his RPO sticker also doesn't have the RPO G80 and yet it does have the Z28 RPO. That means he also has a Z28 without posi.
PS; regarding . . .

Re: !!!! i finaly got mine!!!!!
The IROC package is just suspension upgrades. TPI has nothing to do with it.
There are plenty of Z28's out there without posi as well. My first thirdgen was a Z with a crap 2.73 open rear.
THe only sure fire way to know what your car is equipped with is to run the RPOs thru a decoder. It will tell you exactly what options your car left the factory with. http://www.austinthirdgen.org/modules.php?name=RPO

A Z28 is by no means a base model, but it can be a low-optioned Z28...
Judging by that realy, really long RPO sheet, I really, really doubt your car is "low optioned"...
LOL, look at my RPO sheet!

DOnt sweat the IROC vs Z28 thing, they're mostly the same car, and you can get IROCs with LG4's!
