Door Trim Question

Ive noticed that some of you guys remove the door trim for a sleeker look, heres a pic of what im talking about:

Now for my question, what is involved in removing this trim piece? Is it just held on my adhesive or what? I really want it off and was wondering how hard of a job it is.

Thanks

Re: Door Trim Question

get some kind of plastic tool you can pry with and a heat gun. use Goo Gone to remove any leftover glue. be careful when first taking it off. also make sure not to get the paint too hot

Re: Door Trim Question

I've also seen some guys use fishing line or some type of string to remove it. You just slide it under one end and pull it along to separate the adhesive from the trim.

If you choose to do this, you will have a bunch of adhesive to clean plus risk burning the paint. Just wait for a hot day, use a blow dryer and take your time peeling it off...

Re: Door Trim Question

yes to avoid serious door dings.

They are ugly and hide the lines of the car in my opinion. When i get a repaint mine will be pulled off.

Re: Door Trim Question

personally i think they look worse without them

how do they hide lines ? im confused ?

theres no lines under them

but yeah they are to help prevent door dings

i just think they look wrong without them, too smooth/plain, they are incorporated into the body style really, imho

mine will always have them, it would look very wrong without them

they are just glued on, they pull right off no problem

most of the time when a car gets repainted they dont end up getting replaced

i see camaros with them removed all the time but never birds,
the camaros seem to look fine without them, but i just dont think the birds look good without them, or most anyways

and some ppl believe theirs never came with them from factory- even though they werent there to see the car when it came off the assembly line

amusing.

good luck
