which white is the right white?

so i went to autozone to pick up some touch up paint, they looked up my car info and it came back with 4 different possible whites: olympic...., artic......, white....., white #......, after starring at the cans i decided to try olymipic white,.................... its tooo bright of a white, but its kinda hard to tell because the paint is so faded some spots look bright white and other spots more of a pearl

so is there anyone who knows what the factory white paint was called, and dont tell me its just white, because thats bull, and ill hit anyone who does so j/k

or ,is there some way to decode the rpo codes and translate them into english?

Re: which white is the right white?

wow that was a waste of of a response, if you dont having anything to contribute then you should keep you mouth shut.....

if you would have read my post you would see that i already know that multiplle whites were used on different years, thats why i was asking which one was used on my car. if they only used one white i wouldnt be asking this question now would i? "Sighs"

You must have been the kid in school when the teacher would ask ...who knows the capital of north dakota,...... and you would rase your hand and say,OO OOO OO OOO OOOO OO....... i dont know

i never asked if different shades of white were used did i? NO, from my original post i thinks it pretty clear that i know multipple whites were used ...... thats hy i asked which one!
so thanks for stating the obvious

you might also note that i asked if anyone knows how to decode the rpo codes, because while searching, under: "touch up paint", no matches
bye the way, and other various related topics i came up with very little the best info i found was how to locate color codes in the rpo tags, which i know, but what the code translates to, white /black / gold/ i dont know

so the next time you really have nothing to say. do just that, say nothing

Re: which white is the right white?

There WERE different whites used at different times but the ARTIC white does seem to really bring out these cars a lil better than the others...

Here is a link to the codes. Your a little harsh on those that are trying to help. Even if it's not the information you wanted. Consider yourself lucky that anyone answered you.

Wow, I'm not sure why you took such offense to my response. I simply stated that certain years had certain whites, therefore your car being an '88 would correspond to the colour white used in that year. Just trying to help a fellow thirdgenner. I don't appreciate such a rude response. That attitude won't get you much help in life. Unbelievable!

Re: which white is the right white?

thx for the reply, im really just lookin for a good match to touch up some spots. olympic is to white, already tried that, is artic even brighter or maybe more light tan/ yellow, it's hard to match the paint seeing as the cars original paint is now bright weight / beige white depending on how much its faded, i wish i had a grand to pay for a decent paint job, but for now touch up paint will have to do

Re: which white is the right white?

Did i ask if different colors were used on different years????????????????? how the hell is that supposed to be help

i wasnt rude to anyone that was trying to HELP, i've gotten allot of awesome help from people on here, and alot of bs, the most common response on here is "try a search first", which most people do, but sometimes i know we just post something off the top of our heads, not realizing that the previouse day the same question was asked and answered allready

i spent an hour searching/browsing to find what little info i found
in my original post i stated that 4 whites were available on the camaro, according to autozone, so how does it help me to say

HELLO i said that in the original post so once again stating the obvious, and providing NO HELP. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if the response would have been something like "try searching using thees key word" ect. ect. i would have said thx for the HELP

sometimes ill read a wastefull post such as how can i make my tbi faster?
which of coarse is widely coverd and with a basic search many threads will come up

if 85_ZED28 would have takien his advice he gave me, "search: he probaly would have come to the conclusion that more help was needed on the matter, his response had nothing to do with my question, therefore was not helpfull or intended to be helpfull

i see so many post where the first response is "search", 1/2 the time its called for the other 1/2 is someone that wants attention but has no real advice so the only thing they can say is SEARCH

so incoclusion before you reply to a post in such a **** manner as to say search first, assuming im retarded
maybe you should search first and see if maybe, just maybe the thread was started for a reason

85_ZED28 i dont see how u were trying to help, you came off as cocky to me, the reason i said what i said is that i see people leaving cocky resonses, with no intention of helping they just want to here themselvses talk , and im sik of it, but jumping down some ones throat isnt cool either so if you were trying to help sorry for attacking you but i hope u see my point, i dont care if u think im an ***, just read my post and think about what i said and what u answered and if it was truly helpfull

Hey man, first off if anyone offer some advice ignore the bs and focus on the info they give you... the search I tried (to check you moaning-n-groanin) out came up decent ... look for your self i'm not gonna help you!
But in fact if you can't afford a 1000 bucks for a decent paint.. SO WHAT I can't either!!
I've matched up faded paint jobs before with a little patience. Also if your so concerned with your paint get a cheaper paint job done 2-300 bucks
Yeah it'll last 3-4 years then fade but guess what you choosed your white so you know what paint to get to touch it up with. I know I'm being a little smart but face it it's the D*** truth aint it?
