Re: spohn red paint

the spohn parts are powdercoated, i guess you would have to spray a couple of test panel with different kinds/brands of paint to see which one matches best

Looks like its prob a close match with a JOLLY RED or BARRON RED powder.

Re: spohn red paint

If you welded your crossmember, matching the color isn't your biggest problem :-) I'm probably reading that wrong though and you mean you want to paint the crossmember to match the SFCs... in any case, you'll probably have to repaint them entirely if you want an exact match.

Re: spohn red paint

I cut an inch out of the center and moved the holes back an inch. Then I boxed it in again with 1/4 steel then mig welded it, just need to have it coated again. Im not sure what others have done with the same swap as mine, but im sure it probably didn't involve cutting a brand new spohn x member. If I would have know it wasn't going to fit i would have saved $200 and made one.

No, I dont have any pics. It didnt fit, but not because of spohn. I have a ls1 t56 with a lt1 engine. It moved the tranny back farther. The mount for the ls1 tranny on a sbc doesn't exist yet.

Re: spohn red paint

Im using a lsx trans because I had a t5 before and its easier to use a t5 bell and clutch with a ls1 t56 then it is to swap in a complete lt1 style system. I get a few benefits now 1 being the t5 clutch and 2nd better upgradeability to a future lsx or lq swap.

so the t5 bellhousing and the t56 mate up without using any special pieces, or was there some fabbing involved.

Just need a mcloed adapter and pilot bushing. Have the drive shaft shortened and its good to go.

A little late, but I'm touching up my welds now. I used Rustoleum Sunrise Red Gloss, # 7762 and it matches pretty well.
