Why not goto the inspection station... its free!!

Unless you have a reason to avoid the state stations

Or are you talking about registration?

New Jersey inspection is free. The sticker on the windshield has a number that can be seen from oncoming traffic. If you fail inspection, you get a red sticker on the windshield. It sticks out like a sore thumb and you can be pulled over at any time with that sticker. If you just don't get an inspection, you can't get the red sticker. You are just risking getting caught.

Pass inspection in NJ... Ha thats a joke, as soon as they see my car form a mile away they'll fail me. It burns oil, has a rusted out cat, speedo doesn't work, cracked windshield, and only 1 headlight goes up.

...but it is getting pretty annoying swerwing away into the side street whenever I see an oncomign cop car

Hey if there are any cops on this board, how much would the ticket for this be :

Driving an unregistered, uninsured, non-inspected vehicle that has fake lisence plates, and the driver has no driver lisence

I'm just wondering...

My friend just got caught driving unlisenced and she rearended a cop car She is not getting her lisence until 24, so I am wondering what the penalty would be for what I described? Not to mention this posts's gonna get locked casue it has absolutely nothing to do with appearnce...

Hey Tom, I know this is unorthidox and illegal, but have you thought about carefully scraping off a good inspection sticker from another vehicle and adhearing it to your car. Then just go and get the vehicle that will pass inspection re-inspected. If they say something just say you had an new windshield put in. I know you are saying, "but Vic then the vehicle info on the back of my good inspection sticker won't match the vehicle info on my car." I wouldn't worry about that because out of all the times you have been pulled over, how many times did the cop actually look at the underside of your inspection to verify the correct vin, make, and model. Also on my vehicle's inspection stickers none of the writing is legible in the first place. Even if it was, I cant get my head at the right angle to read the backside of the sticker.

If you do leave the expired inspection sticker on, just stay off the highways. In my experiences here in Texas, it has always been State Troopers that give me a friendly reminder that my inspection is out. I have passed by numerous city cops with an expired insp. with no problems. I heard that inspection sticker revenue goes to the Troopers' retirement fund, maybe that's why they pay so much attention to them.

Here in Northern Jersey, it depends on how cranky the cop is when he pulls you over. I got stopped by a cop in a pissy mood one day (I hadn't done anything except drive by him in a red z28) and he looked for EVERYTHING that he could possibly give a ticket for...including checking the BACK of the inspection sticker, and crawling under the car to check the exhaust. Never had such an in-depth inspection ever. Cop was pissed, though, because everything was good so he "let me go" hehe
