Re: pics of a Charcoal Gray Camaro...

the color??? there was medium grey metallic and gunmetal metallic...it was around the 88 year range...iroczone.com (left column: specifications) has all the year color specs (most of at least) if this site hasn't provided it on the year to year breakdowns. That is if they used a third gen specific color.

This is the color i'm doing my firebird. Thats the only reason i know the two choices...even though they may be one in the same.

I have a gun metal grey car, and it's quite a bit lighter than the other pics posted.

Here's a pic of mine if it helps.

The wheels aren't black but they're dark enough.

That doesn't look like a stock color though, that's why I was asking. It looks damn good.

I remember this car, it was a car done by a student at the University of BC Auto/Body shop class and he posted it for sale after its completion. The color, if I remember correctly, is from a 200X Cadillac Escillade and it is very similar to the black pearl color avaliable on recent Chevy Silverado trucks.

i have a wallpaper of a car your paint scheme with a set of M5's against a brike background.
pretty nice.....
anyway, your car has a killer stance, either way.

not the best pics, but they are decent to check out the paint.
in different lighting, the paint changes around.
at night it looks like you just washed the car, in the day it looks very silver, and when the sun is shining into it, it really brings out the metallic and has a nice deep brown tint to it.

another nice color, but is just a shade lighter, is "spiral silver metallic" which is on 05 vette convertibles. not as much metallic, but has a super nice tone.
its a 3 stage paint.... so i passed on it. $$

Yeah I've seen the corvettes' "medium spiral gray metallic" (like on the 03's and 04's). But I don't know if it's the same as "spiral silver metallic."

Just curious, how much did that cost you? Did you paint it yourself?..

Re: pics of a Charcoal Gray Camaro...

ah yes. spiral grey. i knew i typed it up wrong.
i have no idea what paint brand was used, some car buddies of mine in my area painted it for me. all the actual paint and body work was 2700 dollars, and that included stripping the car to bare metal. after fenders, bumpers, moldings, emblems, new weatherstrip and some other stuff i cant think of, i think i have just over 4300 in the whole deal. thats pretty cheap, considering the preferred shop for custom paint wanted 4K for paint only.

It is a hood set up from a buick of the 80's early 90's, I don't recall which model. I used all the hinge and latch parts from it.

Buick Le Sabre & Buick Fith Avenue.

Did you have to modify anything on the Rad support?

No, Only moding was bolting the hinge to the hood and the hooks that hold the rear of the hood down. Installing the parts was easy, alighning the holld was very time consuming.

Cool, when you put everything back post some pics with the new paint. Oh yeah will it work with a fiberglass hood you think?

That hood is fiberglass, its from the 83 Z28. As long as your fiberglass hood has the reinforcement underside like the factory one, you should be ok. The hinges mount close to the middle of the hood balancing the hood fairly well.
