poping the hood problem

hey guys, i have a situation that must be solved once and for all. well i know many of my fellow thirdgen buddies all have the same problem. everyone has a problem with poping their hood. after pulling the hood cable thing the hood doesnt pop up. you ussually have to play with it and try to get it to pop up. now i tried rasing the bumbers but that didnt help much. now if anyone knew what the solution is, or has any tips, i would appreciate it. thanks

What worked for me was adjusting the actual latch and bar that it latches onto. I think it's all using a 10mm socket. The bumpers only affect how the hood rests, I think

to get the hood to pop you have to push down above the latch and shimmy it side to side. I had this same problem and it was alingment related. if I ever had a problem I just pushed down over the latch and to the right and it would pop.

I will do that now (WD40).
My hood you have to hit gently until it rises.

Took two minutes and it works PERFECTLY.
I sprayed it a few times and then i wiggled the release around a bit, and closed it and opened it a few times and it just pops right up. Unbelievable.

if you have a problem where you have to move your hood to the right, try adjusting the striker on the hood to the right and it should just pop up

I would like to slap people that use WD-40. It is great for cleaning and that is it. Have you ever watched the commercial for it? If you spay it on oil it will take it right off. It is glorified kerosene! Use some silicon lubricant or something that will creap and has lubricating properties. If you cover it in WD-40 it will work until the grease u freed up is washed off.

I've got the "push right" problem. But what's the striker?

I took the hood latch off and cleaned it with brake cleaner. I then smeared lithium grease on all the moving parts and reinstalled it. It works like a charm. I didn't have to adjust anything, over time it just gets gummed up and needs a good clean.
