I was kidding about bringing it back. I have enough crap to do there than to think about shipping a hood back. I like my cars, but there has to be a line drawn somewhere. I wish i was rich like Kandied and some others on the board, but if i had the money, i would probably in some Z06 forum. This is a hobby for me, i dont even really drive my car that much. Im just hoping that someday my car could make it Barrett Jackson. Anyways, if i dumped all my money into this hobby, i wouldnt be making that trip to Japan every year as well as many other places i travel for leisure yearly. Im sure the Japanese would love to have me bring to Japan some American stuff...and they definetly have more leisure money than we do. They spend all their money on their cars and hobby stuff because housing is so expensive for them, many choose to be mama's boy live home and spend. Most of us get kicked out at 18. Why dont we start a new poll and see who spent the most money on their Camaro on this board. Im sure some spent $30000 or more to be the baddest of the bad on this board, but remember it's still a Camaro. Unless it is one of those 1LE super low mile or Turbo GTA it's senseless to spend that much because you will probably never get your return on it down the road. All of us one day will wake up and say, it's time for something different. When that day comes, you will be wondering why you spent $1000+ dollars for that unique hood. I hope i dont wake up soon, because i have already spent a lot of money and especially time to locate everything. It will be a sad day when it's time to sell....unless you have one of those rare ones and see it worth more than you paid. With that said let's have everyone sign up for one of these hoods and have so many in order to have Kandied drop the price to existing production hoods. That way it is more sensible to get it while not building up the guilt factor for purchasing so expensive and be "unique".

what's with some of you people. the post is in regards to those veterans here who know what the hood is and who are interested in seeing the idea come to life here in the states. opinions about wether you want one or not really aren't ask for or appreciated.

Kandied, i know you mentioned the hood will be produced in few numbers, and it will be a 1 off production run type deal.
Just curious what will happen to the molds etc... Im not really too concerned with who gets them, as long as they arent destroyed immediately.
As cool as this hood will be, there just isnt going to be a big enough market, so the challenges for production are there. But it would be a shame to destroy the progress after all is said and done.

the mold will not be destroyed obviously as that would be a waste. however depending on how a mold is built they may last for 10 hoods or 100 hundred. like anything completely custom like this we will just have to play it by ear unfortunately. While everyone likes to make money we are doing this to make it available more then anything. yes it is a bit expensive but that's unfortunately the cost of low production custom items. as the demand increases the price will come down which is something that i'm sure will happen over time after it is released.

I just not sure about starting with that style cowl hood, as i never liked that style hood how it rises upward toward the windshield. Something like hawks sunoco hood would be a better choice i think
But i'll wait and see how it turns out It may end up being a very nice hood and i have confidence you guys will do good.

I'd never seen that hood and didn't know what it was. my friends like tuner cars and i've seen that style hood on evos and "veterans" im not too sure what you mean there i don't know how the new age of kids are gonna like these older, beautiful, cars instead of a new honda if we get on this website and voice our oppinions just to get bashed down why would we stay on here. now don't get me wrong i love the looks of your car, its beautiful, and i look up to it heck i even told my dad about your car and sent you a message one time telling you i wanted to copy your subs because that was the bet looking system i'd ever seen in a third gen. i'd love to have my car just put into a show one day. like i said just giving my opinion, maybe u had a bad day, but i sure look different at you and this website now

i know that lots of people like the glass or carbon hoods because they are light, but there is a reason for those two extra hold downs. they lack strength, especially the way the headlights push air up under them. i have seen a few split and there are lots of stories even here about that happening.
in for using the metal hoods and working with them. they dont break apart in the wind, you can cut them all you want. you can add in air vents of any type.
unlless your building a dragster - in which case you want the entire front end one piece of light material, there is no real need for glass or carbon.

I think kandie Is doing a Great job. More power to him, Hes making parts available to us so we can use them and make our cars nice again. I wish More people and carriers would start to come out with third-gen parts also. Keep it up Kandie

I was going to go with the SS style hood bur have since found out that the only other modified 3rd in this country has the SS already so I am now seriously considering dropping the cash for the Jap CF one.

Here's my Carbon Fiber hood. Been up to 145mph with it hasnt broke as long as you use some sort of hood pin of course to keep the sides down. I work with someone to have them produced here in Canada.
- 25lbs vs 60lbs stock hood.
- Either style louvers can be used. (Holes have to be drilled)

Has anyone talked to the guys in Japan that made the hood originally? I now shipping is normally expensive but my fiance works for an airline that does a lot of cargo shipments to and from japan and also a lady she works with who is in the cargo department of the airline is married to a member of the Japanese consulate and he has a lot of connections in Japan. Anyway, if anyone has contact info for the dudes in Japan let me know and maybe I can get one of these hoods over here. PM me as I dont check the boards on a regular basis.

Don't know if this is helpful or not but awhile back I took some measurements of a stock hood, did some math and came up with some dimensions that should be fairly close. See attached pics.

My job deals with Asia Pacific sales, and I had my good friend call and email them about this hood. They don't seem too interested in dealing with outsiders. I asked them if they had a distributor in the states and they basically blew me off...

That's what I kind of didn't understand about this thread. Supposedly, he already had a hood and a mold. But in this thread, he was talking about starting over with a different hood as a base.

that doesn't fit the lines of the car very well.. no different then the ws6 hood i suppose but somehow those sell so you would think a sunoco looking cowl would be in the works from someone.
once it's painted yes... no teaser pictures until all the kinks are straight.
