Need help aligning hood, '84 Firebird
I have an '84 Firebird SE, but have a cowl induction hood on it. It's aligned perfectly until the front, where it sticks up just a bit. I see 2 rubber "rests" that the hood sits on when closed, but they are down as far as they will go.
Any suggestions?
Also, to get the rear bumper cover off, are there any other "hidden" bolts other than the ones on the bottom that I have to take off?
Thanks!
Chris

I believe the latch attached to the frame of the car has a couple of bolts that allow adjustment. I'm no expert on this, but I think I'm right. As far as the rear bumper cover, I don't think there are any hidden bolts, but those plastic things are a B***C to get out.
I just thought I'd chime in, hope this helps...

Thanks! I'll check the latch, but I think those 2 rubber "bumpers" on the front frame are stopping the hood from going down any further.

Does the hood line up to the fenders and it's high at the bumper? If thats the case it's probably the bumper thats the problem. If the hood is sitting higher than the fenders and the hood is sitting on the rubber stops and they won't go down any further take them out and see if it helps. I can't believe it's that bad though. Like someone else said try and adjust the hood latch down a little. When doing front sheetmetal work I always adjust a hood with the latch out. Make the hood fit then add the latch and adjust it.
On the rear bumper there are studs on each side sticking thru to the inside with nuts on them. You get to the right side ones thru the spare tire cover. The left side ones are a little more difficult to get at but if you remove the rear center trim and pull the side trim away enough to get your arm in you can feel them. You also have to remove the tail lights and take out the push in retainers across the top.

You are correct! I have the hood perfectly aligned with the fenders all the way down. It must be the bumper. Good call. Thanks!
Oh, and a big thanks on how the rear bumper comes off. I might not have to take it completely off. I bought an electromagnetic sensor that tells you how close you are to an obsticle, and it requires a tape, like the kind you put on house windows for security systems, to be put on the inside of the bumper, so if I can loosen it just enough to get that tape across, I'll be golden.
Thanks again!
