No you shouldn't have to put in any new studs. They should just bolt right no. Only thing i could assume that would cause the new studs is for like a weird back space. I dont think you need to change them. Which you wanting the most? i like pro stars

Re: weld wheels and studs?

For safety reasons, yes put in new longer ARP studs. The stock wheel studs don't offer enough threads for the lug nuts to hold onto.

Re: weld wheels and studs?

you dont use longer wheel studs, you use the long shank style lug nut that goes inside the wheel

Re: weld wheels and studs?

You use the long studs because the stud must stick up into the head of the lugnut at least 1/2" for strength. (not including washers) Also the aftermarket studs are harder and slightly thicker at 1/2".

I have seen the stock studs on GM cars break at the track too often and the damage it does to quarter panels ect from the rear wheel exiting makes the change worthwhile.
