Thinking about these wheels, yay or nay?
Here's a crude photoshop. I think I'm gonna go with these. They are gunmetal anodized centers with polished lips. I'll be getting 19x8x and 19x9.5s (they aren't available any wider)
Re: Thinking about these wheels, yay or nay?
I think they look good in grey like the first pic on your car. I wouldn't do black like the second pic.
Definitely post some pics when you get them mounted.

I'm diggin it. But then again I am partial to black/polished lip wheels on a red car.

The photoshop is of the same gunmetal rim, just didn't come out that great. I'm definitely going with those, not black.

Re: Thinking about these wheels, yay or nay?
the wheels look stellar by themselves, but not so much in the photochop. I think they'd look much better in person tho, especially in gunmetal. I'd say get 'em and post 'em!!

Re: Thinking about these wheels, yay or nay?
I think I photoshopped them too large, they're 19. These are 20s on the 91 GTA for comparison:

Looking at it now, I shopped the wheels too large and the pic I took them out of was from a car with 20s and rubber band tires. I hate that. If I get them I'll make sure I get some 40 aspect ratio on the rears to get a meaty look, I hate that skinny tires look.
The sig pic is a screendump from solidworks yes:

Re: Thinking about these wheels, yay or nay?
Having second thoughts about the wheels, maybe the black centers aren't such a great idea.
I like the oem wheel look but the larger sized ones are all chrome, and I hate chrome. I can't stand it. If only someone would make a bare machined with black or dark gray centers like this i would be all over them. However, the chrome ones are only 8"wide so that would mean shelling out around 200-300$ per wheel to add a couple of inches, then blasting the chrome off, powdercoating them and then machining the face for that machined stock look

Another idea is some different bimmer wheels, much like the ones I started out with but with a machined face:

I like that, a lot. And it's a cost effective solution too. I can get this all done for around 2K.
Another option would be some intro wheels, I ahve them on the 77 vette (intro pentia) but with all the taxes and shipping it gets crazy expensive, 4K ish. They do seem to look awesome (intro speedstars)

You seem to like the type of rims i was after. I found something that fit the look i wanted and found these rims. The below link is of my car. https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/cama...cs-my-car.html

Re: Thinking about these wheels, yay or nay?
Yes, I like how that looks. Do you have the same tires all round? I'd like a little more sidewall height on the rear. Somehow, when you have the same size, the wheel arches make it seem like the rears are smaller. that's why I was looking at a 275/40/19 tire for the rear, the wider tires are all a much lower aspect ratio (30 and 25) and that reduces the sidewall height.

Re: Thinking about these wheels, yay or nay?
Got 18/19 combo on my car and i'm debating on going with a 18 rear to match the front or 19's up front to match the rear. I like how it looks currently tho but i need more rear sidewall. gunmetal looks good on some cars

EDIT: i ment to say that the wheels you have up there look ok. I wish they had 10 inch wide so you can stick some 295's on the rear. They look good on these cars, nice wide meats!

Re: Thinking about these wheels, yay or nay?
because a 19x8 fits the front much better if the offset is correct.
personally since you asked my vote is a no. 19's are not worth what they are cracked up to be although they do look sweet. those wheels look a bit cheap so i suppose it would depend on the cost and maintenance will be a bear with those rivets fake or not.
however it's only my opinion, pick your own route/build and drive with it.
