Well here's my new paint job i just got finished painting it last night. 3 coats of color, 2 coats of pearl and metalflake and 3 coats of clear. Turned out real nice no trash and i shouldnt have to buff it. Whats the opinions on the job....well done???

Yea it took me a while on the spoiler and blisters. I just had this kick that i wanted them black like my wheels...(which i havent re-painted yet) If i end up not liking it i can allways re paint it. I work at a body shop....lol

I really like the pearl. I'll have to toss some of that on mine... Too bad I have to wait until March, or April..

Looks very good. I love the rich and deep color you red you used. I think some back z06 rims would really benefit your car!

Looks like it layed down good..but thats hard to tell with out being 2 ft from it. I think some 17 or 18s that were black would look sick! Looks good cant wait to see it finished..

My gf really likes the color but she has already bough red paint for her car, can we just buy the metal flake and mix it with the red? If so how much do we use and what kind would you recommend?

Re: New paint.....Red w/ red metal flake..what you think??
Ok well the paint is not what i mixed it in. Its basicly a 3-stage paint job... sealer, base coat (color), metal flake & pearl coat, 3 coats of clear.( metal flakes are hard to cover. the metal flake i used is house of kolor F20-red. and PRL 86. It was like $40 for the flake and $120 for the pearl. 3.0 ounces of flake and 2.0 ounces of pearl
Re: New paint.....Red w/ red metal flake..what you think??
no buffing..? you are the worlds greatest painter!
nice color. never seen someone combine a flake and pearl in one job in person.

Re: New paint.....Red w/ red metal flake..what you think??
with a good clean booth, good product and a good painter it can be done..The reason you sand and buff is to get dirt and **** out and to take some of the op out..but if you can lay it down good you might not have to..

Well i wouldnt say no buffing, but really it doesnt need it. I have like 3 little trash spots and thats it. The paint is real nice and as i would like to say custome. I have never seen anyone with pearl and metalflake in the same paint job.
Thanks for all the great replies.

Re: New paint.....Red w/ red metal flake..what you think??
Thats the same paint job I have. I got mine done this past June and love it!
3 stage: Base, Pearl, Clear!
Its beautiful and really an eye catcher! I get so many compliments at shows and even just driving around people just stop and look!!

Re: New paint.....Red w/ red metal flake..what you think??
trust me you need to block sand it to get out any orange peel and minor imperfections, and buff to get the deep wet look, it'll make the flake really stand out and it will look very deep and rich

Re: New paint.....Red w/ red metal flake..what you think??
say i wanted to do a similar paint job, but i wanted more flake?
could i simply mix more flake in and spray it on top?
i have never heard of doing it this way.
ususally the flake is on the bottom and the color is candied on top...
that is some serious red by the way.
really pops

Re: New paint.....Red w/ red metal flake..what you think??
a little flashy for me, but i do appreciate the work, me being a body man / painter myself
it does look good now....doesnt need buffing...but let it dry a little ...in a few days you will notice a difference....then cut it down and buff it....then its really gonna pop...
when i painted my car, i used a crazy jap gun for my clear....it was 8 months b4 i had to buff it cuz it layed down so nice....so it is possible to get a sweet paintjob that looks good....but over time as it dries and sinks back in ...you will need to buff her up....
