opinions on racing stripes?

Why do a lot of people on here not like the full stripes and seem to think they are rice? IMO they look better than the heratige stripes. When I get a new paint job I am still going to keep it black but add a cowl hood and have full red racing stripes. B4 anyone yells out ***** or anything keep in mind that I do have a bit of work done to my car so it is fast. Just so you don't think I'm going all show and no go.

RICE!!!! Lol, just kidding man. What do heritage strips look like. Are those strips with the confedarate states flag in it?

Seriously though, I'd like to see a picture of the two, cuase I'm thinking about white stripes on my black 89.

In my opinion, I think if you are going to go with stripes go with it the entire car. It looooks soo much better I think. I have seen cars with heritage stripes and it just looks funny, like some one forgot or didnt have time to finish painting them on. I say if your gonna do it.......Do it all the way

Why do people like the heritage style better? I think it is because they look like the old rally stripes from the muscle car era. The full length stripes were a ford/mopar thing, and I think that is why many are biased against them. Personally I like them both ways, but I put rally stripes on mine because I like them better. Anyway, neither style can even remotely be considered rice, so lets don't go there.

i think twin full stripes look the best, as long as they are done correctly,

i've seen a teal 'bird in my area with 2 white stripes

IT LOOKS HORRIBLE, because the stripes are not wide enuff and are too close together

and no full twin stripes ARE NOT RICE,
when was the last time you called a Viper rice??????

Yeah thats exactly what I think every time I see heritage stripes! Not that heritage stripes look bad or anythign but IMO they would look better if they were the full length of the car.

IMHO heritage stripes look beter because they follow the lines of the car and generally take more effort to paint.
I think on most thirdgens full lengths look gawdy, like you want everyone to notice that YOU HAVE STRIPES!!!!!!.
I like sutle and stylish.

I've had the full stripes on an 81 camaro. I also like the heritage stripes, but I haven't seen full stripes on a third gen. Can someone post pics of both?

Bear with me here but ... would it look stupid to put heritage stripes on the Iroc hood with the fake intakes? Anyone have it? I'm curious to see what it looks like. I have that hood and I'm not sure if I want to keep it. There's so many possibilites it too damn confusing!

i have a white car w/ orange heritage style stripes and when i get it repainted i will probably keep the same color scheme. i think it looks better than then full length stripes. the third gen camaro front bumper doesn't look right w/ stripes on it. Even though the paint is started to bubble and crack (owner before me got it painted, it looks like an earl schieb job, all my trims and even my friggin turn signals were white)people still like the paint job.

USA-1, email me if you want pics of an IROC with stripes. I can't post them here b/c my photopoint album is inaccessible.

My thoughts exactly.

"Full stripes" are actually called Shelby stripes. So purists would say they have no place on a GM car.

Anyway, I'm no purist, so I really don't care. All I know is I prefer the heritage stripes on 3rd gen Camaros over any other type of stripes.

And the only time any type of racing stripe is "rice" is if its offset to one side or something equally retarded.

Heres what I would do..

Keep that hood. Take off the louvers/fake intakes. Get some "power blisters" from a 91-92 Z28. Then get your stripes, and paint the power blisters the same color as the stripes.

Thats how it was done on the factory heritage edition cars, and it looks great.

I am really loving those full length stripes. I would love to see more pictures of cars with them. I have been thinking about putting white or silver stripes on my ride once I get it painted midnight blue. I haven't decided what stripes to get heritage or full if I do indeed put them on. Any suggestions?

I'm thinking about red Heritage Stripes but are they just vinal stickers or do they have to be painted on?

My 92 z28 came with the black Heritage stripes and they are vinyl stickers.

Once I get the camaro repainted, I will probably pay the extra $250-$400 to have them painted.

There are pros and cons for each type. The vinyl are cheap but fade at the edges and hold wax on the edges also.

The painted ones are more expensive but do not hold wax or rip or tear but they are not original.

I am still deciding!!!

Racing, Ricing whatever you call them stripes are not a plus by all means. Especially the line stickers above the ground fx. Unless your car is a V12 and named after a snake dont have the stripes or if it has a bed maybe go for the two tone seriously though race stripes have gone rice sorry...
Intimidating??? yeah it was until I read the sig 305 TBI 700R4 Sport Coupe...WTF

You can buy them here:

http://www.yearone.com/nextgenparts/.../ngbody88.html

They are $150 for each side. You can probably get them cheaper used from thirdgenresource.com or thirdgenparts.com.

They will are a direct bolt in replacement for the fake intakes you already have.

They look like this:

I think the heritage stripes work with a black IROC but don't know if I'd attempt it with another color unless the louvers were painted to match. Power bulges sound like a good idea, too.

I did heritage like stripes on mine but I followed the fold in the hood it made them wider also carried then down on to the nose and ended them about 1" from the edge. On the back I ended them on the back of the spoiler.Round the corners and carry the pin stripe all the way around it will look great.
