Guys I am looking at buying a thirdgen. I ran across this car and I am not sure if the guy is telling me the truth about the mileage. I know that since there is no 1 for the 100,000 mile on the speedo that it can get kind of confusing. Also since there is a speedo cable it can just be disconnected. The interior looks like it could be in a 30,000 mile car but the exterior and under the hood not so much. He told me his dad bought the car new and it was left to him when he passed away. So, that would make it hard to look at the title for mileage. There are no IROC stickers on the car either; he said it came that way from the factory. What do you guys think? He is asking $7000.00 for the car.

 

 

Looks really iffy to me. If it is a 30,000 mile car, they sure as hell didn't take very good care of it at all...

I agree. Must've been stored outside the entire time. Paint is fading like my 91 RS with 140,000 on it.

You can get a nicer condition IROC with 100,000 miles on it with 7 grand. And that's with a rebuilt motor. Lol.

My 91 RS cost me 1500 and my interior looks better than that. My exterior is in about the same condition (No faded paint though) and It has a new 350 in it.

I say pass.

 

Carfax will help you to figure out the miles, buddy of mine bought a 93 foxbody vert with 50k on the odo, but the carfax had records of it with 95k.

If there is emission checking where the car is then there will be your tell tail sign of the mileage because when they record the mileage and it winds up on carfax.

 

if this isnt the original owner you can probably check out via the title most states require a mileage for the title swap, and yeah no.... its half decent interior but i wouldnt say it looks like 30k unless it was driven around 100mph for 30k and got stored outside :P

 

Another thing. 30,000 and the RPO tag is in that condition??? Mine still looks brand new and I have about 200k miles on the chassis.

I went and looked at this car

This guy couldnt get his story straight on the the mileage he said something about the car fax showing 90,000 miles at one point then showing 40,000 after that. It looks like a 140,000 mile car with a nice paint job and wheels. The tranny is slipping and the rear end is making noise. He tried telling me he did all the work to this car his self, but I think he bought the car the way it sits. He didnt know his *** from a hole in the ground.

yea hes been trying to sell it now for bout 3 years now I called him about it before I bought my iroc decided i didn't really need a 30,000 mile car as dumb as that sounds I wouldn't feel right driving it so I never went to go look at it.....it does look a little rough

Yeah you can get a maro in way better shape for 7k and that looks more like its been driven more than 30,000 miles. Hey bardstown, ky huh? I used to live in E-town and go to bardstown all the time.

 

It could very well be the real mileage. The paint realy doesn't have a whole lot to do with how many miles the car has, it was probably out in the sun all its life and its a black car a few months underneath the summer sun makes it look crap let alone many years, you can tell by the engine, if its pretty clean and the give away is if it burns oil, if it burns oil then its probably 230,000 miles, but pull off a valve cover and look at the lifters and such, if its pretty clean then its the real mileage if theres alot of sludge then its not true.
