Deciding on paint job
The paint on my camaro is totally trashed (but no rust!), so it's time to freshen it up. It's white now with red leather interior. I've thought it be cool to do a nice dark shiny purple, but i don't think it would work with the red interior. So i figure i could work out either white, black, or red.
This right here is one of the ideas i'm looking at. I found this vinyl design and thought it looked kinda cool, so I drew it up. I drew it up as the hardtop, but my maro is a vert.

Lexus makes an AWESOME Pearl white. If you go black or red remember that you are going to have to get the jambs painted too.Pearl white would be a twist on your original color.

Im just saying...

Re: Deciding on paint job
i have always prefered white , my 89 (RIP) was white , silver gray G.F.X. , with a red stripe above the G.F.X. . for you white is right , ( no slur intended ) . reasons , 1. no jambs to paint , 2. white does not show small body imperfections as a dark color will , 3. white does not show normal dirt as bad as darker colors , 4. its just a cool color in the summer . whatever you decide , good luck .

If you do get another color (RED imo) if you are handy with an airgun/detail gun/airbrush you can blend the jambs red->pink->white - less painting - if your jambs arent rustic theres already a base if the whole car isnt getting stripped before paint - and blended/faded jambs are just badass

Re: Deciding on paint job
I just bought a 1986 camaro berlinetta and it needs body work but after that I want to paint it and i was thinking a flat black paint job with gloss racing strips? How much sanding and priming would i have to do for it? i was thinking of doing all the prep work myself and then finding a good Maaco to paint it flat black (hopeflly they dont jack it up) Would all this be a good idea?

I'm painting my car a similar color, radically changing the color of your car is hard work, gotta do your underhood, door jams and if you have t-tops there is the t bar area. I have had my hand it painting a few older trucks and when we painted them a completely different color we pulled the interior and completely painted it inside and out.

Re: Deciding on paint job
I personally love the white with red interior, but black would honestly look sharp also, I try to keep away from black cars, they look great but if they don't get painted correctly you can see ripples, and plus in the sun they are a hot color, try getting into a black car on a 90 degree day, also it messes up the paint unless you take good care of it,
