lol, good reply. I was wondering, if there is any cheap walmart stuff i can use just to have a temporary clean lookin engine. I am thinking of something that will clean mostly what is visible from the top, i dont want no show quality stuff, just to keep some major things clean from time to time.

yea i figured you clean it when it gets dirty. What i was tryin to ask is how all of you keep your clean. Just sprayin water and wiping it off, or using gunk, stuff like that. I used to gunk my last engine but i could never get it that clean.

After re-doing my engine/engine compartment this last time around I started waxing the flat surfaces in the compartment. It fills in the pores in the paint, making it a slippery surface, which makes it a bit more difficult to get dirty - not impossible, just more difficult. It's fairly easy to clean up now.

Compressed air and a paint brush works real well for getting dust and what not off of it. It also works good for those tight spots that are hard to get to.

I've used the Walmart brand engine cleaner and it works pretty well. Costs around 79 cents per can.
I'm gonna try the simple green though.
I've heard some really great results from others who have used it.
