i have an 82 pontiac firebird transam 90,000 miles it had a four speed and carb 305 putting in a 350 bored 30 over and a 5 speed . i build scale model cars have an 1/8 scale chevy camaro 1/16 th chevy camaro 1/16th firebird transam that looks like my car when i get done with the real car five 1/25th camaros and thirty 1/25th pontiac firebirds and one of the 1/25th looks just like the 1/ 16th firebird transam that my car will look like when it is finished and all of these are third gens i like the other gens but their is just something about the third gen thats why i love my car so much

1983 Pontiac Trans AM Daytona 500 Edition with the crossfire

 

1st car was an 1982 with the iron duke 4 cyl and a 4 speed manual trans.
A few years later I bought a 1989 RS with a 305 TBI Auto trans.
A few years after that and it was a 1991 Firebird with the 305 TBI 5 speed.
Then shortly after that was a 1986 Trans am with a 305 TPI. (only one I never did use as my driver)
And just recently sold, leaving me without a third gen at the moment, was my favorite. 1987 Formula 350. It was hard watching it leave but for the moment a necessity.

I am thinking about buying a Trans am that was setup for a Big Block but debating if its something I can tackle right now.

Othewise looking at a 84 Z28 5 speed project. We'll see which one or what other one I may end up with!

4. Loved every one of them. I bought the new camaro while it was a great ride i sold it. The wife tried to get me to look at performance sedans i couldn't do it. I'm getting my favourite car i liked in high school 20 years ago a black/black GTA. Searching for a new ride is half the fun.

 

I've only owned one, always kinda over looked them untill i swapped around and got a 4th gen and decied to mod it. I said screw it, i want more room to work with, and the third gens look better anyway.

Growing up my mom always had a third gen, i even took one for a joy ride when i was 2 or 3. My dad had more 2nd and 3rd gens than i could count.

I've had two. The first was a brand new 1989 Turbo 20th Anniversary Trans Am (with some mods) it ran 12.1 @ 115 mph in the 1/4 and was featured in a Dec.1989 issue of HPP where it blew the doors off a 1965 tri-power GTO, in side by side racing at Raceway Park, NJ.

I now have a 1991 Formula 350 that is currently featured the October 2012 issue of HPP and I have owned it for 17 years now.

I feel like I may be missing one

 

Just two, a 92 RS and a 91 Z 28. I've loved them since they started building 'em, dreamed about owning a new one in HS, just never made the leap until a couple years ago when I bought the Z for my wife. I decided I wanted one as a DD for myself and bought the RS. Might get a third this fall to be a "toy".

To add to this since my last post. I passed on the BBC Trans am and the purchase of the 84 Z28 fell through.

However I did buy and just recently sell a 1985 Z28 305 Carburated. It was a fun car for the short time I had it but being a hard top I wanted something else. Also recently purchased was a 1988 GTA L98. Unfortunately it was wrecked and sat for too many years. Its sad story is helping my current car just bought Friday 8-17-12.
1987 Trans am that has a 350 TPI swapped in. Factory T-tops. Rock sold body and the rear wrap around spoiler is uncracked! It also has a lot of aftermarket goodies on it and as a result doesn't idle well. Runs like a monster when above 1500 RPM! Going to try to get it to idle better because doing hole shots to keep it running will likely result in many tickets!

 

Here are a few pics of my old '89 Trans Am from 2001. Originally came as an Lb9 but I swapped the motor to an L98, ditched the drum rear and added a 9bolt with 3.27 gears,Jegster SFC,LCA and loop. I did so HOOKER Shorties along with a custom YPipe and magnaflow muffler. This car ran the best of 13.8@103 with 3000+' DA at sea level 13.3 was average...... Bone stock L98 gotta love that L98 with a manual trans too many fbodies to list

5- 1987 TA, red, 305 auto peg leg car...clean body...**** drive train...didn't drive it for long
6- 1987 IROC...305 4BBL factory car, 700r4 trans, peg leg rear...found a shitty wreck repair after I bought it...traded it for my current one
7- 1986 IROC...swapped to 371 with mild cam...swapped to world class t5...swapped rear gears from 2.73 to 3.73 auburn posi rear...subframe connectors...lowered 2 inches...body is clean very little rust does need paint

 

I just got my 2nd one 2 months ago. First one was a 92 z28 5.7 5 spd in white, had it 5 months then an old friend of my crashed it. 12 years later and I buy the same car but in black.

 

I wasn't think it was many but then I counted them and I was like DANG!!
