Thinking about ditching the TPI emblem - Sleeper or No Sleeper??

I'm trying to decide if I should keep the Tuned Port Injection emblem on the rear bumper of my Z28. My only reasoning behind keeping it would be to make it look as sleeper-ish as possible. There's no validity to the argument of keeping the emblem to keep it original, because the LSX/T56 aren't original, and neither is any of the suspension. Original is officially out the window for good. But if I wanted to make it kinda sleeper-ish, I could keep the emblem where it is.

On the other hand, the car is very loud, and has an extremely choppy cam, so it's obvious once the key is turned that it's not stock and it's definitely not a turd. So maybe I shouldn't be trying to look like a sleeper anyways, I dunno. What are your thoughts? I've always loved sleepers, but I tend to think that mine is a little more ballsy than sleeper. I mean, the interior looks stock except for the two aftermarket guages in the a-pillar, which aren't even hooked up actually , and the only things on the exterior that hint at aftermarket are the chrome wheels, the LS1 disc brakes front and rear, and the custom grill that I made.

So, without rambling any further, should I go for a sleeper look, or should I say screw it and take the emblem off to clean up the exterior a little bit?

I vote keep it.
It looks very slick, plus as you said what the point in making it look like a sleeper if it is a monster!
Great Car!

whatever you decide it's a very nice car . when i repainted my car a few months ago . ( i have an r/s with mild mods. . iroc/z grill , fog lites , painted buckets , ZQ8 wheels , stock "Z" spoiler , and the list goes on .) anyway i wanted new badges on GFX , and bumper . i finally decided on plain camaro emblems from 88 camaro s/c . it does not say "clone" just camaro . just my thoughts , nice car . good luck .

Nick DITCH it!!! It looks smoother, is easier to wax with it gone, and most guys that you line up with are probably never gonna notice the emblem anyway.... and after they see it run they wouldn't believe it I'm happy mine is gone just for asthetics!

Ahh yes, you bring up a very valid point with the wax issue. I hated having to use a Q-tip to get the wax out of that stinking emblem.

get rid of it. It doesn't even look remotely like a sleeper anyways.

Around here, if it's a 3rd gen and it's fast, it's a sleeper. There are so many fast cars in the St Louis area it blows my mind. People around here don't tend to build up nice 3rd gens. There's a handful of nice ones, but even then there's an even smaller crowd that has fast 3rd gens. They're definitely sleepers compared to a lot of other cars in the area.

Nick, I would say that it's up to you for looks more so than sleeper. People who are familiar with these cars know that TPI does not mean a real fast car. Other people that have no clue about our cars will see Z28 logo and thinks it's fast. I would say that you already have a sleeper car with LSX engine in a convertible.

I vote ditch it. PLUS, its not a 5.7L anymore

I ditched mine when I went HSR and 383 only issue is up close on my car (its red) you can see traces of the emblem (fading?) Weird though, my cars been garaged most of its life and only has 46k miles on it.

Hell, if you want to add a supercharger to your motor you could do this:

Keep it.

#1.....They'll think you are "easy prey" since you are TPI.

#2.....They'll be doubly confused when the "easy prey TPI car" beat them!

Having a personalized license plate number that has a message that has something to do with the car would lead me to suspect that its not a normal thirdgen. Your license plate is talking more than that emblem. I'm not telling you to get rid of your vanity license plate, I have one too.

I say keep it, It will be assumed its a cammed L98 with nice exhaust. Then you show them how much of a sleeper it is.

When asked, "whats in there" reply, just a cam and some bolt ons. It wont be a lie either.

Re: Thinking about ditching the TPI emblem - Sleeper or No Sleeper??

It WAS a 305TPI, not a 350TPI lol

Actually what I'm gonna say when people ask what's under the hood, is that its just a regular old chevy pickup block. They don't need to know that its a GenIII block with all the goodies lol

The paint shouldn't be faded behind the emblem because I had to get the bumper repainted a few years ago when I backed into my dads truck
