What's the best thing for dashboards???

It seems like the more Amorall I use the dryer my interior gets. I've heard that it is not the best thing anyway.

So what is the best thing for all of our interior plastic like the dash that is easily available at any auto parts store?????

Just use warm water and soap mix... for a cleaner, like one cap full of car wash or Dawn to 16 OZ of water and a clean towel.

Keep it out of the hot summer sun as much as possible.

I've used EagleOne Tire Dressing and Protectant on all of my interior plastic since the day I purchased it new in 1986, and my interior is perfect. No melting of the grain like Armor-All does, no oily residue after it soaks into the plastic, nor does it leave a filmy residue on my glass.

I use a paste but I can't remember the name of it. I found the same problem you had with armor all and decided to remove it all with Simple green. I then added a paste that was designed to protect the interior. I think Meguire's makes it. It looks like the interior on a new car. Just a very slight sheen, not the high gloss that armor all leaves. You want something that will rejuvinate the natural oils in the vinyl.

Actually, for the actual dash pad use Vasoline. Yeah, it seems weird but it worked great when I did it to mine!

Just a word of advice, NEVER use Armorol on your dash or even on your tires for that matter. That stuff actually speeds up the process of your dash cracking. It's same with your tires. There are many other products out there that are so much better. Like stated earlier, Eagle One, Sun of a Gun, etc. Sorry to seem negative but I've seen too many things go bad with Armorol.

I don't exactly remember the name of the product but it's made by Simonyz. It's a plastic and vinyl protectant with UV protection. This stuff have teflon inside. It give a shiny look but non greasy like that armoral ****. I'm very satisfy with that product and recommend it to everyone.

One of the other things I like about the EagleOne is that it doesn't make the interior look over shiny like a lot of the other products on the market do. It gives it a luster, but the sun glancing off the dashboard won't cause you to have an accident cuz you can't see the road.

Is there any fix for a cracked dashpad without making it look cheap? I just noticed I have a crack from the base of the window to the begining of the speaker grill. I used armorall on my car three times but before I got it the car sat in the sun a lot. I just noticed the crack yesterday and I was really pissed about it. I don't want spend three hundred bucks on a new dash pad when I could spend that money on more useful mods. Any suggestions?

Thanks, Josh

I use vinlyex. That stuff works great. It's a cleaner so it doesn't give that super shine, but it keeps it lookin new.

Someone finally gave the correct answer. Had you put a dash cover on it from new and you wouldn't have any problems. I am on my 2nd dash pad in 10-1/2 years of owning the car. The dash is still in great condition. Another thing that helps on convertibles in an interior cover by California Car Cover Co.

What's the point of having a nice looking dash if it's covered all the time? I find dash pads ugly.
