Re: Guess What I used this time!
I would take a wild guess and say tire shine. I used it on my friends Z28 and it did wonders as far as looks anyways you couldn't even tell the clear coat was coming off. ha ha Thats pretty impressive tho whatever you used!

Re: Guess What I used this time!
It was this:

I was doing my dash when I accidentally touched the rag I was using to the roof of the car, and it looked great, tried it on the A-pillar, and decided to do the whole car!
After I took these pics it sprinkled a bit outside and it made the stuff run, so I cleaned it up and used NXT Tech Wax over it to protect it, and it looks amazing!
Last time I made it look like that it too me 3 days in the summer! And I used a lot more than $20 of stuff too...

Thats insane, tire shine? Haha, you would think that it would be too strong for something like that.

Re: Guess What I used this time!
I would think it would leave a residue, or a greasy film of some sort on the car.
Does it dry up nice?

Very nice!!! I am not a big fan of Turtle Wax, But my grandpa had bought some of the Ice Paste, and it worked great on my Camaro, The clear was disapeering on it too. I normally use wizards, but you might try that. That is so cool haha. I have heard Mag and Alum polish works great on plastic trim pieces.
Good luck man!! Keep the car looking great!!! Are you going to paint those wheels?

But dang, that did come out fairly good. Nice.

Re: Guess What I used this time!
But yeah it dried pretty good, and once you get wax on it, its just like any other wax job.
I still have to put another few coats of wax on it to make sure its good and protected so it will last, but I'd say for an impromptu job it turned out amazingly!
Yeah, I just need to get the stuff for the wheels and take them off and have my hand with them and get it done, it won't be hard to do. But thanks for the compliment!

Re: Guess What I used this time!
If I have read correctly (may have missed the point) you are trying to temporarily get the peeling clear-coat to disappear. Tire shine is good..... Oil is awesome. I hated to do it, but it lasts a whole lot longer than anything else I tried. It's water resistant too
