To blister or not to blister.
So I purchased a daytona hood about 3-4 weeks ago and well its been in my head for a while, The hood came with louvers and it looks good but I have been looking at blisters and they look good and fit the year of my 92.
What is your guys preference? Blisters or Louvers for a 92? I like both and both look good but I dont know, I also got a pair of louvers for $16 and they only have 2 studs broken on each and are in very good condition. One thing that is really a factor is price! I see them range from anywhere from $100 to $300!

Help a beaner out!

Re: To blister or not to blister.
Haha I know the hood is not loved but I think its better than the SS, I got a hold of a regular stock hood and put it on and it just did not look right anymore so I went back to it.
I will see if I can get ahold of some blisters, a family friend that works at a small junkyard said he has a few 90 z28's that are seperated from the lot, Hopefully they have a good pair of louvers, Would be killer to get em for junkyard prices.

i agree... its weird though.
i dont like the hood in any other pics or other cars, i just like it on my car lol... weird.
although that could be because it was on the car when i got it.
keep the louvers

Re: To blister or not to blister.
See for me its one of those things I have to have on and look at myself before making a choice but some good things happened today, I got my rotors resurfaced for free and my dads friend pulled through and got me a pair of blisters for $20 and a beer.

They seem to be in good shape, one has all its studs and the other has 2 broken. I will see what looks good tomorrow.
Here is how she sits currently:

Re: To blister or not to blister.
Aight so the ones a friend bought were poop, He said they were stubborn to come off and I did not take that as much of a worry until he brought em and all of the studs were broken.
I donated them to a friend that owns a 91 Red RS and said he will ''make them stick'' and get ahold of the hood I told him about from a local junkyard where I got my better ones. Now here is the kicker, I went to a junkyard with my father and his friend trying to fix his Saturn and I found 2 Irocz both were in eh shape mainly rust wise. Both had been already yanked and I did not think much of em. I walked away and searched elsewhere. I actually went back to check its dash since I did not get a good look at it and it was more hurt than my current one, but when looking at it I noticed the blisters, besides some paint chip they were in good shape. Of course I said with my luck the studs are probably all broken. I popped the hood and god damm all the studs were fine. I managed to brake one on the driver side one but the rest were fine. I figured they would probably sell em for $15-20 each but I was willing to pay that. Once again another surprised the cashier was a friend and charged me $15 for both!
All in all today was a good day! Pictures incoming.

Re: To blister or not to blister.
Last picture showing just the minor paint chipping:

In the end I really do think louvers make the hood a bit better. I am gonna prep them and the hood and see. If in the end I go with the louvers, I have a pretty penny to make selling a good set of blisters and louvers!

Haha after seeing the $ they go for on fleabay, I might actually think of selling em or trading them for a headliner if I decide against them!

Haha are these really worth that much of what fleabay wants? There is 3 all ranging from $150-$300!
I saw thirdgenranch selling em for $100 a while ago. Hawks has them for $100 each (
) then again hawks prices are
in general. I will let you know if I decide to go with louvers, I know our things are higher than yard costs but jesus why bend people over that much.

Re: To blister or not to blister.
Hey Carlos...that hood looks familiar...
so I see you had no problem getting it home from Denny's
...I had thought about putting blisters on for years but never did, even when I had an extra pair...I like it both ways and I think it depends on your spoiler and your ground effects.
Will you be at Thirdgenfest next weekend? You can get plenty of ideas with over 70 cars to look at.
A small trick you can use on either the blisters or louvers with missing studs. You can use 3M super strength double sided tape. It is designed to hold molding and badges. But it works great on a lot of other things like Blisters/louvers and ground effects.

Yea, I saw that from the driver side louver that came with and it was stuck on well! I actually got 2 pairs of louvers, the pair that came with the hood and another that only has 2 studs broken on each and now these blisters I got today. Well I had 2 pairs or would of but my next block friend said he could make them work since he wanted the look for his 91 RS and the yard I got the blisters from had a perfect hood for him.
As for Thirdgenfest I really do not know at this point, If I can convince a friend to come. We might stop by and bring the Cam but right now I have been busy. I might get loaned the painting tools I need to finish her in the following days so its up in the air right now.

I also forgot to add that I got one blister prepped and primed. It actually looks better now and doesnt give that out of place feeling I was getting before. I did not prep it that well and I need to sand a bit more inside the edges but here is one prepped.

Ived seen a version on fleabay that has em closed, still has the hole curves though.

Guy wants almost what a new one would cost.
